So, a wonderful package came in the mail today. I knew about it before I came home, since I'm a compulsive "order status" checker. Its contents are most likely appreciable by only a few of the classicists on my list, since it's very dry subject matter for all but a few: GREEK PARTICLES!!!!!! What is really sad is that I knew it was Denniston before I even got down to the name.

I told Mike, and he said "Now THAT is a committed Classicist!"

me too - knew that it was Denniston I mean. I am envious. I have books on 'The Greek Verb', 'Greek Metre' and 'Greek Accentuation' but sadly not yet Denniston. Possibly my next book grant though . . .

The Denniston was on Clearance(!), thus I could justify the purchase. Might the metre book be West's? If so, I'm jealous.... West has a talent of making any topic interesting. Conversely, his translations are always trivializing. Interesting man to meet, I'm sure.

Most shipping companies like to fly it through their "hubs" of distribution. Mainly because, like Sears, they have a static distribution system. But it makes for a great novelty.
