Does anyone know off-hand roughly what the salary is for an AHRC-funded post-doc at the moment? I have tried to find out from their website but I can't find it. (I've been asked to be the UK PI for a project, which if it went ahead and succeeded in its funding bid would mean pay at this level, hence the question.)

I'll be here in Oxford on Christmas Day. I stopped going to Mass some time ago now; religiously I am in an uncertain and no doubt transitional state. Still, I am considering going to some kind of church on Christmas Day (probably not on Christmas Eve, as I have been invited to dinner with friends and may not return in time). Any recommendations? I am thinking of buying an ipod - which one should I get? useful experiences/recommendations/thoughts? I have not had one before so this is all new; cheaper obviously better but I'm not particularly stingy about it, and happy to pay more if it's worth doing so.

Is anyone reading this a Robert Duncan fan? Oxford (or rather, Congregation) has just voted against governance reform, by a strong majority (c. 450 to c. 740). An interesting afternoon - I was impressed with the quality of the speeches and (for the most part) their courteous and respectful tone, as well as the range of those offering their views. Glad I went.

. . . namely, about bath oil. Can anyone recommend really lovely bath oil? I'm prepared to spend a bit, as I have a bath every night and I'm a bit rubbish about other forms of female pampering (don't really use make-up; facials etc are a closed book; I own one nail varnish), but am struggling even to find ones to try.
