Ugh, so I had the worst morning. I strolled out to the parking garage at about 5:10am only to find that the left front tire of the car was COMPLETELY FLAT! Aaahh, I freaked out and called my mom. I have never ever changed a flat tire. I don't *do* cars. I found the little book my mom got that explains how to do it. I struggled for about 10 ( Read more... )

Dude, that just happened to me a few days ago with my motorcycle. Unfortunately, because I'm only 10 minutes away from work, I didn't find out until it was too late to call in sick. I'm going to send a memo to try to get out of the miss. We'll see if it works.

I'm glad to see you learned to change the tire! It's good knowledge to have. I wish to goodness I could just change my motorcycle tire like a car but it's more complicated unfortunately.

I was actually surprised how simple the process was. It took a hell of a lot of muscle to get the nuts off, and the jack out of the compartment, but other than that it was just pull the old one off, slip the new one on. It seems like so many women (or just people in general) are afraid to do it, or don't know how. That made me assume it was a much more difficult process.

You've discovered an important secret Grasshopper. Most of this stuff is easy if you have decent instructions. I've been slowly discovering this over the last 20 years and I love doing basic stuff on my own. (Changing oil and battery, basic wiring at home, some plumbing... most of it is very simple.)

I think a lot of people have a mental block against doing these things, good for you for not buying in to that!
