Yesterday being Veteran's Day I was "quizzing" my kids on the 5 branches of the Armed Forces:

The Army!

Good!  Another one?

The Boats!

Well, good, but its not called 'boats'.  It starts with an 'n'...

The Navy!

Good!  So we have the Army, the Navy....

Ooh!  And the Santa Maria!

No page of mine would be complete if I didn’t post this somewhere.  I wrote this a long time ago and its made its rounds.  At the time it was my idea of what a wedding-on-the-cheap should be.  Funny enough - my actual wedding wasn’t too far off the mark.

( Beating a horse unto death? I say neigh, neigh. Ahem. )

 
Day Two and I have one already.

There are three first grade classes and last year we managed to hold over a whole gaggle of kiddies.  We kept some of the same kids this year and some of them we *just had* to "give away".  D is one of these children and this year she's in *my* room.   Today after dismissal I still had 3 or 4 children left with me ( Read more... )

I went trolling for monarch caterpillars today so I can bring them into my classroom and drive some lessons with my students.  I always pass this patch of milkweed and thought it to be the 'motherload'.  There was so much of it in one place and it was fairly accessible without tromping through muck, private property and/or tick-infested grasses.  I ( Read more... )

How long did it take you to get over your last boyfriend?:

OOh thats dangerous. I still think about him. But in a Those Days Were Fun sorta way. We didn't belong together. Our relationship even had an expiration date. Seriously. Of course, as with a lot of things that have expiration dates - it eventually went 'off'. Maybe it even began to smell.

I sometimes say in respect to certain things that I have 'paid my dues'.  I sometimes invoke Karma.  I'm not sure if I'm using any of these phrases properly but what happened this morning tells me that I might.

Today was Green Beans Day #2.  George was in a great mood but - being his usual wiggly self - managed to scutch me at every turn.
