You are a good friend to many of us who are not easy to be friends with -- closeness for you has a very distinct removal from co-dependence, and most people can't tell the difference.

Paul, did you misuderstand the concept? You complimented me where I'm supposed to compliment you. Sigh. Well I'm gonna compliment you anyway. Besides your obvious talent, charm and smarts, you are a BALLSY dude. I admire that beyond all reason. You will say things to people that, coming from anyone else might cut to the quick. Coming from you, however, the observation seems simply true and always is taken well. I think people realize that your sensitivity and awareness give you the unique ability to see things that others don't, so a criticism from you always seems more like you are trying to be constructive than hurtful. I like that.

Man there are so many things I like about you. I am just going to pick my favorite, though. So you know how when we are in a big room full of people who are all being ridiculous and crazy and weird and it is just starting to get to us and then we somehow always catch each other's eye right at the moment when we are about to hit someone or run screaming from the room and we realize that we are thinking the exact same thing? I love that about you. You are my co-conspirator without saying a word, and everyone thinks you are all sweetness and light to boot. I love that I am able to tap into your evil side and that you show it to me. Look, obviously there are a myriad of things I could say about you that are wonderful, but I love the dark side of you, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Again, like Etzel, this is hard because there are som many things I like about you that it is hard to pick one. I think the thing about you that most makes me smile, though, is that you have this crazy curious nature that makes you have to know the answer to things that are a mystery to you, and you have to know them right away. One of the things that annoys me about having a crazy smart group of friends is that sometimes I feel embarassed about not knowing about something they are talking about and all seem to know about. You, while being crazy smart, don't ever seem to give a shit. If you don't know you just ask. That is SO cool. And the thing is, in our stupid group of friends, there is guaranteed to be at least one asshole who will say to you, "WHAT?!?!?!?!? You don't know that Aquaman's sceptor was created when a black hole opened up the mountain which is named for Professor Hawking's third theory of quantum theoretical physics? You must be retarded, Abby." But you don't give a shit. You are all, "Fuck you nerdo. I don't know, so ( ... )

Ah Gutterhelmet. The better question is what DON'T I like about you? Again, I am going to try to pick something original here. I think, more than anyone else in our group of friends, you share my uncanny ability to lead a double life. What I mean by that is that you seem to have two very distinct personnae which you can switch to as needed. I don't mean that you are crazy. I mean that there is Work Liz and Fun Liz. Now I'm not saying that they never overlap, but I, for one, understand how hard it is to switch back and forth between the personality that people know at work and the one your friends know. I have met Work Liz. She is a force to be reconed with. Don't get in her way. She will rip your arm off, feed it to you, and make you ask for seconds. I love that Work Liz exists. I also love that she sometimes works for FNI. You are an inexhaustable souce of fun, but when you need to be, you are just an inexhaustable source.

I think that my favoite thing about you is that, while you always seem all quiet and reserved, you are a little firecracker. What I mean by that is that you and I don't "hang" all that much. However, I think we got to know eachother much better by playing tennis. Well what I notice about you is that quiet, little Michele doesn't take any crap from anyone. I love to rib people. When I make fun of you (and it is always in a good-natured way), you are like, "Look buddy, not only am I not going to take that crap from you, but here is some right back at you." I love that I have gotten to discover that about you. It really makes me admire you as a tough, tough chick that doesn't get enough credit for being tough. You will be a terrific teacher.
