Personally, all things being equal, it wouldn't bother me as much; however, unaltered male dogs occasionally have issues with marking territory and agressive behavior, which would give me pause for concern. Unaltered cats are not permitted in my house, unless it's a stop-over before they get spayed or neutered, simply because we have cats in the house that are neutered and I don't want them learning any bad habits ( ... )

If it's important to you, than stick by what you believe in.

However, if this guy and his dog were a good fit in every other way, perhaps you should mention your concern to him and find out why he has not gotten the dog neutered. He may have a good reason for doing so. Or at least his reasoning may give you more insight into his personality which might help you make a decision you can rest easier with.

I would tell him why you're considering turning him down, and see what he says.

I lived with an unneutered male dog once. He marked every upright surface in the house, humped everything in sight, and had issues with aggression when he got a little older. It was not a pleasant experience, but one I had no control over. I wouldn't do it again.

I was wondering what the issue might have been and I think you explained it nicely. Thank you.

i would say no and tell him why. otherwise you'll probably get in some big ridiculous fight about it eventually and be in the market for a new roomie anyway.
