Seriously, the ladies of Mad Men are so ridiculously awesome. Also I really hope that Peggy has a gay affair with that awesome lesbian who's so into her.
(Also, remember that time that Don's artist girlfriend took him to some beat poet thing and he was the biggest square and it was hilarious and like my favorite thing that's ever happened? How reminiscent of that are Peggy's dalliances of late with artistes and communists where they're all THE REVOLUTION and she's all "lol okay"? Ugh, show, you're too good.)
LOLOLOLOL. I had to hit the pause button through that entire exchange.

Yessssssssssss. And at it's heart, I think the show is about the shifting of power, from mid-town to Greenwich, from men to women, old to young, white to black, and how the real trick is recognizing what is cyclical and what is irreversible, and maybe about personal change and/vs communal change. In any case, I remember watching the first season around the same time that I saw Capote and even back then, these characters were the dying vanguard, scandalized by a book published over thirty years before, and on that same day, probably, Capote was just a handful of miles away, at a party filled with queers and feminists, you know?
