Hey, everyone! I hope you're having fun with the drama finishing challenge. We've watched a bunch of episodes! We've finished a few dramas! We are doing good for our first week, and that's even before we check in with people who've been squirreled away watching dramas on their own. :D ( Read more... )

I'm not doing anything different from my normal drama watching for DFC, but I am enjoying seeing the posts, comments, etc.

This week I finished Urero Mikansei Shoujo, Keiji no Manazashi, and The King 2 Hearts, but I've been making comments about them over in my thread, so I don't think I'm going to add anything here.

1. I have watched 32 episodes. I expect that number to drop now that I don't have the extra DWA episodes and because I usually work on projects rather than watch dramas at the time that I was watching Urero Mikansei Shoujo2. I never think about dramas in terms of episodes like which was my favorite or whatever. I actually don't really understand how it is possible to do that (unless maybe they are completely episodic), so I would be really happy if anyone who does it would explain to me. What makes you like specific episodes? How do you evaluate single episodes apart from the entire context of a drama ( ... )

I would like an episode because of particular major events that happened in that episode. Or maybe there was a particular episode that left me with strong emotions. Of course it takes the whole context for it to be meaningful, but I will go back and rewatch certain 'favorite' episodes for the 'turning point' scenes. Like I enjoy episode #14 (I think that's the right number) of Protect the Boss, because everything is amusing and great and it leads up to the scene where he kisses her (being vague on purpose). It's the feelings of anticipation and then joy that make that episode great for me.

Hmm, I can see liking particular scenes, but I can't even remember what happened in what episode lol. I don't think I'm really a fan of turning point scenes either now that you mention it.

1. Watched 3 episodes of King2Hearts and will be finishing that drama by the end of the week -but that is thanks to dramawatchalong
I also watched the first episode of Lost Days.

4. Oooh! This is an excellent question, lol.
I'm stuck between Kdramas of: I Hear Your Voice," "Prime Minister and I, and Evasive Inquiry Agency. OR TWdramas: ToGetHer, Sunny Happiness, and The Pursuit of Happiness.

5. What I usually struggle with in drama-watching is finding the time to do it, while having the option of tv media. Like right now, I'm rewatching Fringe.
7. I used to mostly watch J-dramas, but lately, it's been more K-dramas, just because it has more interesting topics.
And I absolutely enjoy supernatural/scifi/fantasy/rom-com genres more than anything else.

Thanks for making this post :D

Honestly I don't know that you would like Evasive Inquiry Agency because it is really wacky. Plus there is no romance (YAY FOR ME! lol). I even almost gave up on it during the first few episodes, and I think I tend to watch a lot more varied and strange things than you do. But if you're looking for something different, this is definitely it--just give it a few episodes to draw you in because the story is actually really well done if you can give it a chance.

It has been interesting for me finding so many different topics in Kdramas (though the downside is all the romance UGH FOR ME! lol). I realized there are a lot of topic/genres in Jdramas that I haven't seen or heard of in Kdramas either though, so I'm wondering if they aren't there or if I just haven't come across them.

Hmm...I guess I've give it a try and see what happens? lol But now I'm intrigued!

though the downside is all the romance UGH FOR ME!
lol yes, that is probably one of the reasons I enjoy them so much as well xD

It would be interesting to hear what you thought if you do give it a try. Just make sure to keep watching after the last scene turns into a picture or whatever because it even has random side stories at the end!

1. How many episodes have you watched?
11.... wow....

2. What was your favorite of those episodes?
From Itazura no kiss.... I think the hospital eps :3 and from Hanazakari No Kimitachi E... I think I don't have one yet but i'm only at the 3rd ep so far :D

3. Do you have plans for what (other) dramas you're going to tackle in this challenge?
I was planning on watching some of the ones I have on DVD. Something I really like is watching them on my tv instead of my computer, dramas are internet-free time ^^;; but I'm realli liking HanaKimi so I might have to break that rule to watch the remake on my computer and scratch one of the planned ones xD

4. If you're feeling indecisive, would you like help choosing?
I think that will be fun too.... any rec? (Japanese only plz ><)

5. What are you struggling with in this challenge?
I'm not struggling... yet- I need to manage my time tho... because 12-16eps of 40-50mins :s ( ... )

Recs for you (and perhaps you've already seen them):
Aozora no Tamago, Bloody Monday 1+2, SPEC, Hana Yori Dango 1+2, Love Shuffle, Orange Days, Q10, Ryusei no Kizuna, Clone Baby, Liar Game 1+2, Otomen, Proposal Daisakusen ...I think I could go on for awhile xD

Itazura na Kiss and HanaKimi both are my favorites and definitely addicting to watch.

I used to be distracted by the way Korean sounds too, but I eventually got used to it, and it opened up a lot of drama viewing opportunities, so I'm happy about that.

I'm sorry for such a late reply >< I got short on procastination time.

I've already watched Aozora no tamago (d2 babiiiiieeeess and weirdo-please-marry-me AkutsuShin and Hide speakin in spanish and ñklhjjksjkljfkajflsdkfs), HDY 1-2-movie, and Otomen. I've hear donly good stuff about Bloody Monday and it's very tempting and I bought Q10 so now it has a rec I might turn it to my 4th dorama for this challenge, thank you!!! And yessss give me all the recs!!!1 Dramas are so prolific and many and usually i don't know where to starts so recs are always awesome :D

HanaKimi was just precious. Deifnitely turned into one of my favorites of all times.

Korean sounds too mcuh like chinese to me and it distracts me sooo muuuuuch >< but yes, i guess I should give them a go xDD <3

Hana Kimi was one of my very first dramas! And I still have never gotten over Nakatsu *points to icon*. ♥ It introduced me to the idea that dramas could be just a frentic and weird and hilarious as anime, I wasn't sure these things could translate so successfully to real life. XD

Something I really like is watching them on my tv instead of my computer, dramas are internet-free time ^^;;
I watch everything on m computer but that does sound really nice! It's so easy to be distracted otherwise~

Do you have a list somewhere of what you've already seen? :) Just based off Hana Kimi, my recs would Nodame Cantabile and My Boss My Hero, if you haven't seen them yet! ♥

1. 23 I mean, 21! (I CAN COUNT.) And I've finished two dramas so far. :D
5. It's hard to focus on the dramas I want to finish instead of splintering off in a million other directions. Self, this ISN'T a time to start that US show with five seasons that you've always wanted to watch. This isn't a time to start a drama with 24 episodes that you've never watched before! IT'S ONLY SIX WEEKS, JUST FOCUS, SELF.
7. I love a whole lot of jdramas, but kdramas win by a nose. They just make me feel so many feelings. I like the ones where no one dies at the end, where there are awesome characters; romance is good, humor is good, excitement is good, dramas are good. <3<3

Ooh, good questions...

2. I think my favorite decision was to be swept along by Val's decision and go for I Hear Your Voice! I'm only two episodes in still but I'm really enjoying it. It's fun to have kdrama I'm excited about rather than one I might have been losing steam on. :)

5. My struggle has been deciding on what I am in the mood to finish! I think I put a little too much pressure on the first week of challenge, trying to think ahead and pick things I'm committing to finish over others. My other challenge has definitely been lack of planning ahead in my downloading, a lot of the things I abandoned I didn't download the rest of. So spur of the moment watching can be tough, when you then need to track down subs and torrent files!

6. *raises hand* Yup, thinking about all these dramas I have partway finished leads easily to me just thinking about dramas IN GENERAL and wandering over to something new. Plus, I keep wanting to steal from other people's watching, aha, and start their dramas instead of finishing mine. XD

7. Country- ( ... )
