Herz stops so fast, little David's head smacks straight into the back of his knees. This makes the kid jump but after that, he goes right back to staring into the trees, frozen in fear as some poor soul gets ripped to shreds somewhere in the woods.
Oh god, this place is fucking terrible, he's getting the hell inside.]
[Where Hakkai comes from, snarling and howling generally means youkai -- or some other monster creature popping out of the woodwork. Not wolves. So, of course, he pokes his head out to investigate, stepping lightly over the damp ground.
Only... he can't feel his chi. This... may end very badly.]
[What, SERIOUSLY? Someone came looking to investigate? Nooooo, no no no no no, this isn't how it's supposed to work, he's supposed to be able to hide--
If he snarls at him to scare him off, whoever it us could return with guns like that one time when he was still a student. If he hides out, he'll be found eventually, and then what? He's no good at stealth, and it's too early in the evening for him to be able to take off running, he's still sore...
So, finally, all of these thoughts in mind, a very scared-looking wolf sticks its head out of the nearby foliage, ears pressed back, head and tail low.]
[That... was not what he expected. Although, in retrospect, a large dog does make sense, in conjunction with the sounds he'd heard. Animals aren't terribly worrisome. He did live with a dragon, after all. And a monkey, according to some.]
Ah... hello.
[He crouches, slowly. Hakkai already isn't the most threatening-looking man on the face of the earth. This should help.]
[And this is a thousand times better than what Bennett could have hoped for. He sniffs a bit, trying to pick out any details in the man's smell, anything that might prove dangerous, before creeping closer, low to the ground the whole time. It's almost an exaggerated display of submission.
He gives a high whine. Why would you come investigate those sounds, Hakkai, are you crazy? Bennett would have run in the opposite direction.
[SHIT. SHIIIIIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT. Why would you bring dogs?! Seriously, most hunters go for guns, crossbows-- and Bennett can deal with their bad aim most of the time.
This is going to be a really bad night. His hackles raise on instinct, and he bares his teeth, but he doesn't growl-- everything about his body language reads as terrified, and remarkably submissive for a wolf on its own.]
[Huh. He doesn't seem too concerned by you, Bennett. A little curious, maybe, but not too concerned. He turns to leave, whistling at the dogs to follow him then pauses, turning back for just a moment.]
Leave the chickens alone.
[...Yep, looks like that's all he wanted to say. He leaves, heading south, dogs following obediently behind him.]
[All Bennett can think to do is offer an obedient whine and slink away in the opposite direction. It doesn't mean the hammering of his heartbeat in his ears has stopped at all.]
AND THEN I WOKE UPsuperntral_tempJanuary 17 2011, 00:37:16 UTC
[Yeah she hears it and she glances around, but it's a little too dark for her to see something that subtle.]
Forget this. Wait until daylight. [She was turning to go back to that pod but that stupid capybara that wouldn't stop following her finally decided to run out on its own.]
Shit. [Not that she'd wanted the damn thing to begin with, but she did feel responsible for it. And it was running away aaahhh whatever was out there would probably kill the thing. It didn't look like it was getting too far, maybe if she just speed-walked a little she could catch up to it in a minute.]
THE LONGEST OF NAPS also CHRONILOGICALLY THIS HAPPENS AFTER EVERYTHING ELSE HURRRnowlycanthropicJanuary 17 2011, 00:58:57 UTC
[And all Bennett can do is press further and further into the woods in hope of escape. Every new sound makes him jump and he spends the entire night on edge-- he's got to find a building or something to hide in next time, this "running about in the rain for twelve hours" business wasn't really going to be that good for him at all.
But lo! The morning comes.
And with it, comes another transformation. Changing back was always so much worse, the pain medication he'd taken as a human would always wear off beforehand. He just wants to sleep, but first-- howling in agony. Always a good choice. Better than a rooster!]
[Guess what Bennett! You're being watched. Kevas heard all that god awful screaming and there was no way he wasn't going to check that out.
Unfortunately he didn't get there in time to see what was going on. Fortunately, he did get there in time to find a rather large wolf. Only it couldn't be a wolf. It was too big, but it was too small to be a worg.
For now Kevas just waits and watches, staying hidden in the shadows. He doesn't need his ability to turn invisible to not be seen...although it really does help.]
[Unfortunately for Kevas, this is probably the most boring wolf he'll ever see-- Bennett is mostly jumping at tiny little sounds nearby and trying to find some larger leaves to try and yank down with his teeth. He's trying to make a bed, he doesn't want to be laying about in the mud for twelve hours.
[This wolf is not acting like any predator he's ever seen. In fact, it's acting more like prey. Every little noise seems to make the animal jump. There's no blood on it either to see if it's attacked anything. Then again it's acting more like it's the one that's been attacked. Maybe the blood got washed off in the rain?
Another thing that makes him wonder is its shelter, or complete lack thereof. Even animals try getting out of the rain, and if it's injured then it has even more reason to try and seek shelter. Maybe...maybe it's a pet?
While remaining hidden in the shadows Kevas lets out a sharp, commanding whistle like a pet owner might do. Maybe it'll respond.]
[SHIT, was the guy back with the dogs? Bennett yelps and crouches low, searching for the source of the sound. Somewhat unconsciously, his lips pull back into a snarl and he backs into a tree.
Truly, a more pathetic wolf never had there been.]

This sucks. He's scared him, again. Not like there was much he could do to prevent it, but... and he can't even apologize, because then he'll know...]

You're not quite what I'd expected.

Oh yeah. He's looking right at you.
So are his three, very large dogs.

Oh hell no... [She's already looking around. Wherever that thing is, she wants to be the other direction.]
