i remember one episode where dorothy jane had this big school dance and she got her dress from a consignment shop and when she got to the dance, it was like the popular/mean girl's old dress that she gave away bc it had an ink stain on it...dorothy jane had covered it up w/ a flower corsage pin. but then she ended up getting the guy she liked anyways. a typical wonderful torkelson moment:)
