Hello, all you lovely people.

Do you know anyone (yourself included) who prefers voice-activation over keypad response to prompts in automatic telephone customer service systems?

Only when I'm using a phone that has a keypad blocked by my cheek (most cordless and cell phones as well as Trimline-style designs).

If I know I'm going to be using the keypad, I'll use the wall phone (if I'm at home) or a hands-free headset on my cell phone.

A good voice activated system can be very helpful when I'm using my cellphone, so I don't have to take the phone away from my ear and call up the number pad on the touchscreen (and yes, speakerphone can help with that first problem, but I can't always use speakerphone, say if I'm in public).

Yeah, when the phone doesn't have a seperate number-pad from the hand set. So, in most cases if I'm on a cell phone, it is easier.

No. Emphatically, no.

Now, on an unrelated topic, can I bug you about con-running subjects? (via email is best I imagine)

Well,

*Warning, this rant has no useful content*

Usually what happens is I realize I am stuck in some 6 level deep tree of 'Hit 1 for our store hours.' etc.. system so I end up yelling:

"Just let me talk to a f*cking person" at the phone.

Invariably followed by me sighing and hitting numbers on my keypad for the next 5 minutes until I get a f*cking person.

So..wait, what was the question? :-)

Hate both. Want human. If I want auto-bot responses I can get every single piece of information they provide off of the web.

If I'm actually calling you I want a human to talk to about something.

Some systems disconnect you if you hit zero
