On not being cool

Nov 15, 2008 01:19

I'm going to start posting here more, because I miss writing, but mostly because I miss all of you. So there.

I've been aging for a while now, but I think I may be growing up. This is an unsettling thing for me on some level, because it means that I risk becoming a "grown up". Here are my symptoms:

1. I no longer go to shows, unless it's something I ( Read more... )

my first album was better.

in reference to--

#2--no need to feel shame for Tom Petty. i still constantly sneak "You Got Lucky" onto roadtrip mixes and iPod playlists (partially for my own sake, partially to get another jab in at the Ex. but still, great song.)

#3--it IS the same as being a manager, sans any real authority. it's basically management where you have the ability to be a tattle-tale. It's like being a spy, except you don't feel cool at the end, you just feel sad. and your one big responsibility is giving everyone their breaks. i sadly know this first-hand.

and #6--i inherited my grandma's KitchenAid mixer when she died. that was the sum of my inheritance. and it was worth it. i started thinking of things i could mix with is during her eulogy.

oh, and #7--good luck, guys.

I actually emailed the radio station they play in the kitchen at work begging them to play more tom petty and less john mellancamp. I never heard back from them.

I hope you got good use out of your inheritance...Is it still working? those things are built like battleships. The basic design has barely changed at all since it was invented.

less john mellencamp in the world, radio and otherwise, would be a good thing for humanity. as would more tom petty. the video for 'don't come around here no more' will always simultaneously thrill and horrify me in terrific, tingly ways.

and yeah, it's still working like a charm. it's perfection. it just needs a nice paint job, like the one Alton Brown had on his blog...

I love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Lots. The greatest hits album makes me sublimely happy.

And I'm glad to hear that you and Lisa are doing well and making exciting life decisions!

I got a KitchenAid Mixer for my birthday. You think the obsession will end there, but once you get the mixer, you start coveting the attachments. It's a long way down that slippery slope.

Which is what ebay is for...does it come with the paddle and the hook, or do I have to shell out for those? those are the ones i use the most...

Mine came with the paddle, the hook, the whisk and the splash guard. But when I bought my mom one, she only got the paddle and the whisk, so I guess it depends which store you get it at.

A pink Kitchen Aid is my fondest wish.

And I like Tom Petty.

I like the pink one too, but I'm worried it wouldn't go with our kitchen. Plus I would have to put sanrio stickers all over it, and that voids the warranty I think.

It seems to be a global phenomenon...

what set me off was remembering all of the distraught posts after the 2004 election...I wanted to see if the reverse happened this time. It did.

Also I think that I would be doing Qwerty a favor by giving him a really easy name to type. All of those exrta seconds add up. Plus it's funny.
