I propose that all auction web sites should implement a feature wherein two high bids are managed: the first is the actual high bid from whomever can afford to pay for the item at auction close, and the second is the "OMG I want it THIS bad!" bid from the inbred cretins who, though they don't have the money for the item, still feel compelled to put

I always just thought someone needs to invent a way to slap someone through the internet. That would be useful in so many places, far more than on just an auction site.

Perhaps you should have to bid from a pre-loaded balance? The balance could be locked until the auction closes.

Auction houses would love it, as many people would leave their balance in place, and they could make interest.

It's because of what you described that I've essentially given up on ever using eBay to sell things ever again.

Part of the problem is these fucktards win auctions, then they report YOU for having the gall to list the item, and eBay takes THEIR side on it.

The best ones will actually pay you, get the item, then claim they never received it and demand a refund, and eBay will put a hold on your money till you refund the cost of the item. They don't even demand the person send the item back anymore.

And don't get me started on their policy of charging you for shipping, AND THEN taking their cut of the shipping off the top of the sale of your item. So they charge you TWICE.
