I had practically memorized Are You There God?  It’s Me, Margaret.

For those of you too young to remember, or those of you of the male persuasion, it was an extremely controversial book by Judy Blume about a pre-adolescent girl who wanted her period.  She wanted it more than anything.  Luckily, I was allowed to read what I liked, and I, like ( Read more... )

You know, I don't think I ever read that particular Judy Blume book. Recently I just re-read "Blubber", heh. The hysterectomy was a good choice for you. I'm happy to hear that you're not miserable from the bleeding anymore.

I LOVE Blubber! And yes, the surgery was the best thing I ever did.

Except for a few minor details this could be me :)

I had a terrible time from getting mine when I was 11 but after the birth of my son it got ridiculous, it took two full years without one day of not bleeding and me having a breakdown in the doctors office before they finally relented and agreed that 32 or not the womb had to go.

I'm in post op recovery period just now and with the exception of a few minor niggles feel fantastic :) so glad it has helped you also

Haha. Yes. Not only did I love Are You There God, but I got my period at ten and have been "lucky" enough to have been dealing with it for the last 19 years.

Good for you for knowing what was best for you, and not taking no for an answer. Great post.
