All I can say is that it's not about whether people like the truth or not, it's about whether they *need* it. Which in most cases, they do. For me, I make it a policy to respect anybody brave enough to bring me the truth, especially if they have reason to fear my reaction. There is no such thing as an eternal lie, and eventually the news comes around.

Assuming someone can't handle hearing the truth about a situation is often times more insulting than just telling them the truth in the first place.
