The great divide.

So, after reaching a crescendo in 2012, it kinda feels to me like the partisan hatred is calming down a little. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Nope. It's getting worse, it's just that so much of the GOP leadership has sold out that you don't hear about it in Congress. But out here in public? The people are pissed and I think we're about one good incident from a shooting war.

Every time I hear people who WORK for a living (that is they aren't on the dole or work for the government) they're really pretty pissed off and are fighting mad.

No.

The troll-shills for Obamacare I have seen in some comments, for instance, have been particularly vitriolic and hateful.

There's always the possibility of selection bias.

Concur that it's getting worse, or perhaps better said, more threatening.

No, it's getting worse, especially with every day people. I think being partisan is the biggest scam ever perpetuated on the American people. One half of the population is always fooled into thinking everything is okay, just so long as their team is controlling things, even though we're dealing with a two headed snake. IE: This guy I work with was slamming the Bundy rancher for refusing to pay his fees. I replied, "Okay, what if this was going on...what if George W. Bush was the head of the Bureau of Land Management, and they found out that the Bundy ranch was sitting on a fortune in natural gas? What if Dubya raised the fees so high that the ranchers couldn't afford to pay so he could sell drilling rights to his Big Oil cronies? Doesn't sound so good if they did it huh?" :-P
