Recap

For the last few years I haven't done a proper cull of un-needed things. I do cull, clothes always, but other stuff - mostly quite superficial.  We have three pitch-in days a year at the dump and I take advantage of all of them - well, the September one is mostly garbage from Baron's Howe, but this year i've gone above and beyond ( Read more... )

It is really hard to get rid of "stuff". I have loads of things that my love would probably be giddy with relief and joy if I got rid of even half of it :) Congratulations.

I can't let my love see what I'm chucking out - he really had a hard time letting that corroded old turntable go!

Good for you!

A lot of work, but it does feel good to lighten up! Your "pitch in" days sound good as they provide a deadline. I could use one of those for the garage!

I love the pitch-in days! That ugly-ass broken loveseat thing goes in July. Now I just have to find someone to take away broken fridges - I don't think the dump takes those. But they're out of here!

Congratulations! We managed to get rid of a lot of stuff when we moved to our latest home, two summers ago. Freecycle lists were good for finding people who wanted some of the old furniture!

It always feels good to clear out unnecessary stuff, though, doesn't it?

Moving always clears tons of stuff. But we've been here nearly 19 years - imagine the accumulation! We have a basement, a garage, a barn, a shed - and SCA friends! It's a nightmare!

Our stuff - too trashy for Freecycle, even, and no-one wants to come out here. But I'm going to put some of my halter and rein collection up.

Bravo. I am trying to do a cull but things keep creeping back. I know I have to get it done soon so that I can get the futon frame down to turn into a bed. 10 months of sleeping on it like a sofa has become too much of a habit.

I know that creepingness well. I plan on being very firm!

That is amazing. Congrats. It can be so hard to get rid of stuff.

I gave away most of "my stuff" before my trip and I am trying to be very careful about buying new stuff.
