In a somewhat related note i went to go see 300 and one of the turn off the cell phone ads maybe laugh and watch it a few dozen more times. It featured Sydney Pollack showing up and yelling a bunch of directions at some guy in his kitchen talking on a cell phone. The punch line comes when he states "Oh I'm sorry. Is my directing in the middle of your phone call bothering you?"

AMEN! Stephen and I feel the exact same way and verbally shred people who do what you just described. I wasn't blessed with much of a maternal instinct to begin with and what I do have is saved for the furry and 4-legged, so when I spend good money to see a movie, the well of patience has run dry, for child and parent alike. Damn breeders...meh!

I just wanted to say thanks for not automatically making comments that made me feel all annoyed and defensive as a parent. :)

Oh, and obviously, not taking the Kit to a rated-R movie either. I even get twitchy about her fascination with watching her father play Halo--and that's mostly because she loves the plane and the car. :)

What - how am I supposed to tell my kid to be quiet if I have to turn off the cell phone?!? Let's have a sense of reality here... ;)

Weirdly, everyone I've talked to who saw this, mentioned kiddos in the theatre. There were some in mine. NOt loud, but at the perfect age to be both too young and to almost get it - 8 and 10 year olds. I really can't see anything but selfishness in that one. I can't see by the ads that a parent would specifically want to bring their kiddos to the movie. Crazy!
