If you liked the most recent Indie movie, don't read this.

If you haven't seen it, and plan on seeing it sometime in the future, don't read this (HUGE spoiler alert!).

For those that felt a little disappointed or let down by the most recent of Spielberg's creations, then feel free to read on. I'm about to rip it a new one.

I can understand you disappointment with the opening as it was very dry, but the alien plot was a great. The original films were homages to 1930s adventure serials. As this film is set in the 1950s adventure serials had been replaced but alien movies that were also anti-Communist propaganda. It actually works well in the context. The sidekick pulling the double-cross was original for the series. Going into I never thought that would happen to Indy. As for Mutt? Is he worse than Short Round? No and I like Short Round, but Mutt is basically modeled after the Young Indy character from the tv show. Marion being different reflects that 20 years have passed. People can change. I loved the movie. Its not better than Indy but better than Temple of Doom and Last Crusade.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed.

The biggest problem, which was a combination of all of the above and then some, was that it just didn't have the magic.
