Part 1 -
Demon =^-^=
Changmin and Junsu trekked through the screaming gales, doggedly making their way to the forest, axes in hand. Neither of them said a word, preferring to save their energy for more important things, such as staying upright as they walked.
Junsu’s mind was only partially paying attention to his surroundings. He had just had a flashback to the last time he had braved a storm in this part of the forest for firewood. He smiled just a bit at the memory of a tiny Changmin, huddled and scared in the snow. How that one day had changed his life. He couldn’t believe that he had survived all those years after his parents had died, mauled by a wild bear or other large clawed mammal no one had ever found, in silent solitude.
He sighed a little, consciously missing his parents for the first time in a while. They would’ve covered him up in a warm woolen blanket and told him not to worry about a thing. His father would’ve gone in search of firewood himself as his mother bustled about, lighting a few fat tallow candles they saved for such emergencies and singing him to sleep so he wouldn’t have to endure the cold.
The day they had died was still the worst day of his life.
Even in his daze, Junsu’s keenly honed hunter’s and survival instincts noticed something was amiss before his conscious mind did. He stopped, being careful not to make any sudden movements, reaching out to Changmin as he did. He was pleasantly surprised when he found that Changmin had stopped as well, his ears back and twitching in what Junsu recognized as a combination menace and fear.
“Changmin, what...”
Then he heard it. Or rather, he heard the lack of it. He had automatically grown accustomed to the sounds of the wailing winds and snapping tree branches, but now he heard...nothing. All sounds of the storm had ceased, even though he could clearly see and feel it around him. All Junsu could hear now was his own suddenly labored breathing and the panicky beating of his heart.
Feeling a sudden need for human contact, Junsu clutched at Changmin’s arm, causing him to jump a little in shock. All of the fox demon’s attention had been focused on one spot in the near distance, just beyond visibility to Junsu’s weaker vision, and he returned to gazing intently at the area after he realized the potential assailant was just Junsu.
“Changmin, what do you see?” Junsu hissed under his breath, not sure what they were supposed to be looking at. Even as he said the words however, he could suddenly see it. Or, at least, a part of it.
The glowing red eyes were suddenly filling his vision, were all that he could see. He was mesmerized, sucked into their bloody depths, captivated by visions of murder and rage and hurt. He didn’t know what he was doing, what was going on, what his own name was...
Then he was unexpectedly wrenched from those scarlet depths by a strong, warm hand, so completely different from the cold hell he had been falling into.
Changmin pulled him roughly aside and out of the unknown creature’s line of sight, placing himself in front of Junsu instead. Junsu stumbled and nearly fell to the cold, icy ground, catching himself just in time with one gloved hand.
Twisting himself around to see what was going on, Junsu could now see what the enemy was. Careful not to look into its eyes, Junsu peered around Changmin, catching sight of what could be one of the ugliest creatures to have ever walked through the forest.
It might have been a bear once, but now it was a twisted shadow of its former self. Besides the dangerously glinting red eyes, it sported a mouthful of jagged, yellowing, broken teeth that were configured in such a way that it seemed impossible for the thing to fully close its mouth. The fur was matted and bloody if it was actually still there; bald spots and puckered scars seemed to criss-cross over its entire body, including its horribly disfigured face. It towered over both of them, shoulders lopsided and brushing any nearby trees, causing little icy showers as snow piled on low branches was dislodged. It snarled wordlessly at the two of them, revealing a black, swollen tongue covered in sores the size of quail eggs.
The snarl sent a rush of hot, rotten stink into their faces, causing Changmin to nearly fall over when his knees gave out under the repulsive weight of it, the smell hitting his sensitive nose even harder than Junsu’s. Junsu quickly caught him before he could topple, gritting his own teeth to keep from retching.
Changmin smiled weakly at his worried face, struggling to regain his footing.
Junsu’s worries didn’t diminish in the least. “We have to get out of here! That thing is going to kill us!”
Changmin just shook his head. “It’s impossible. It knows our scents now. It probably knows our souls too.”
Junsu looked at him in confusion. “What?”
Changmin finally stood up straight again, turning to look at the monster, which was creeping slowly towards them, seemingly contemplating how it was going to strike. The fox demon seemed to be impervious to whatever force had compelled Junsu before; perhaps it was because he wasn’t human, however much he looked and acted like one.
“This,” Changmin announced, “is not a normal bear. It is, or was, a witch’s familiar. The witch herself has either died without terminating its contract, or has actually sent this creature out into the world to wreak as much havoc as possible.
“Either way-it’s either him, or us.”
Junsu stared, wide-eyed, at Changmin. “H-how did you-”
Changmin interrupted, “I just know. You still have you axe, right? We’re going to have to hack him to pieces, before he bites our heads off.”
Junsu readied himself, accepting Changmin’s words as truth without hesitation. He hefted his axe in his hand and took one step forward.
The creature that was once a bear sensed danger and roared in retaliation. Before Junsu could so much as flinch, it charged.
It covered ground faster than Junsu would have imagined. He had no time to lift his weapon, no time to react at all, barely any time to think, before the creature was mere meters away, hurtling forward with its own momentum. He didn’t even have time to close his eyes as he thought, This is it.
His open eyes were suddenly dried out by a sharp gust of wind, the first indication that Changmin had moved. The second indication was a howl of pain from the creature as Changmin buried his axe into its hairless chest with as much strength as he could muster.
The third was the weight of Changmin’s body as he collapsed backward, half landing on top of Junsu’s boots.
Junsu stood in shock for a few moments, mind clambering to comprehend what had just transpired. His subconscious was still refusing to fully grasp the situation when the beast roared again, cutting through the numbness in his mind and fully releasing his survival instincts.
This time when the monster charged, Junsu was fully prepared. He had his axe up and charged right back, yelling wordlessly in rage and pain as he hurled everything he had and more at the monster, refusing to let it live after seeing Changmin’s limp body lying on the ground, a red tint spreading rapidly through the icy slush beneath him.
He would never forgive anyone or anything who would hurt the most important person in his life.
The axe flew through the air, slicing through fur and skin and hacking into bone. The creature roared in pain, rearing back and striking out with its gnarled claws, but Junsu was too fast for it. Adrenaline sang through his veins and he beat its rhythm out with his weapon on solid flesh, barely noticing that he was drenching himself in the hot lifeblood of the beast he was hacking apart. He didn’t think about anything but punishing the one who had done such a horrible thing to Changmin, the one he loved the most, more than anything else in the world, more than himself.
He didn’t know how long it took. His hacking and smashing continued on long after the beast was too weak and had too few body parts to stand up. It lasted longer than any normal creature would’ve, perhaps because of the magic that it had been subject to as a witch’s familiar, but he didn’t care. He became a machine, methodically carving away chunks of flesh until the last glimmer of red disappeared from the monster’s eyesockets.
Only when he was sure it was dead did he drop the axe and fall to the ground, spent from all his exertions. His body was sore, his entire body covered in blood and gore, but he didn’t care about any of that. His attention was only for Changmin.
Half crawling and half dragging himself over the frozen ground, he called out hoarsely, “Changmin! Minnie-ah, please...please say something, please...”
There was no answer.
Upon reaching Changmin’s lifeless form, Junsu collapsed once more, rubbery arms refusing to hold up his weight any longer. He reached out and pulled Changmin close, rocking him and holding him tightly despite the long, angry gash that cut through the entire right side of his torso. He refused to cry, he couldn’t cry...
Changmin rolled over in Junsu’s arms and coughed, spraying Junsu’s already bloodied shirt with another spurt of blood, but didn’t open his eyes. He had passed out again.
Junsu couldn’t hold it in any longer. The tears rolled down his cheeks, freezing an icy trail down to his chin, as he cried in relief.

Part 3 -
Human A/N: I figured that after all the squeals at the cute in the first chapter, if I'd tried to leave a cliffhanger after this chapter someone would've cut me. So~ YAY HE'S ALIVE WOOHOO
(And if you were wondering about the NC-17 rating, that's in the next part. >D)
I realize there were some fails in the first part >_>;; (thanks
ryukokoro_oppa) and I would usually go back and fix them like nothing happened
