it depends on what look you're going for. i'd say that the top gives me a more classic, old school vibe, whereas the bottom is more hard ass pirate. the lines on the first are a lot crisper as well, so i'd sub the first scull for the 2nd if you do go with the swords.

personally i like the swords, but the crossbones have at least a few more meanings attached to them, like poison, death, and the goonies.

I completely agree with the 2 above. The first one reminds me of poison, the second of pirates. I vote for the second!
