Today was the first day of school :) Despite the fact that this is my second year of teaching, I was still mad nervous because I did not know what my kids would be like. They were good today though. One of my students named Scarlett invited me to a Hawaiian themed luau that she was having in celebration of her first communion. The family went all out in preparation for the luau. The ladies all had leis, the guys had straw hats, the decorations were ornate, the music was bumpin', and the food was delicious. (I must learn how to make carne asada ( Read more... )

I can't believe that there are only two weeks left in the school year! A post about the good, bad, and funny things that happened during my first year of teaching will be coming shortly.

I went to a video shoot for MxPx today. It was for their new song, "Heard That Sound" (which rocks by the way :))The video was filmed at a loft in downtown. There were less than 100 people there, which made it great because it was basically like a personal concert. My LMU observer invited me to a luncheon that was being held for the Los Angeles Association of African American Women Political Action Committee (LAAAWPAC...or something like that).
