FOURTEEN?! That's a blessing. The school in Philly with the most corps members only has four or five, and a lot of us are going to be alone in our schools.

And actually, Watts isn't all that bad. As someone who's spent a lot of time in and around Detroit and visited Watts a few times, I can vouch that Watts is paradise in comparison to Motown.

If I were you, I'd take it. And I'd also kill to know this early on what school I'll be teaching in.

All my best,
Steve

Thanks for the info Steve :) I think I'll feel a lot better about it after I've had the opportunity to visit the school and observe and speak with some of the TFA corps members and alumns who currently work there. From the people I've spoken with so far, I've learned that Markham is a pretty diffucult school to work in, but that will be true about many of the schools that TFA works with. I'm definitely glad that I'm going to have so much support there. I think it will also help if I do the remainder of my observations at the middle school level (and maybe even a couple more) so that I get better feel for it. All of the observations I've done so far have been in 3rd-5th grade classrooms. So yeah...I'm just a little nervous and uneasy about it right now, but I'm taking steps to change that.
