I was dissing Swedish dairy products, comparing them to the huge variety and wonderul taste of Finnish dairy products, especially Valio ice cream. Fred got defensive and took out his patriotic book! but there are lots of inventions that were invented in sweden and then modified in another country or the other way around, or maybe it was a Swede/American or something...
most sites will say that Americans invented the zipper, but I think it's Sweden that modified it and made the one we all use today.

The turbocharger was invented in Switzerland (and in 1909!), which I'm sure could be cause for some kind of bar fight. (The first turbocharged production car was not the SAAB, but the 1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire.)

here we go, I just found where I got the info from:

The Turbo Engine for Cars
In 1976, Bengt Gadefelt at the SAAB car company constructed a new type of turbo-powered engine for cars. It had the advantage over other constructions that it would start working automatically when extra power was required, for example at high speed. A few years later, SAAB presented the world's first commercially available turbo-powered car to the market.

so it wasn't the original it was the new kind=)
