Rainbow woods was indeed the wrong name for the area. Fixed.
Effort was made to include one character of everyone in the examples somewhere; as per your request I removed yours. (If anyone else has the same objections please do let me know.)
The changes generally seem along lines that were already proposed, apart from ritual re-workings. I've only skim read at this point, so that may be in error.
All in all, it seems a solid bringing up to date of the rules set, which can then continue to be developed from there. If you feel the rules are shafted in places, perhaps the best thing to do is to embrace them and play the broken parts? That is always what has been needed to change the original set.
Probably the ideal solution would be to talk to Craig and suggest that TL suspends for a period whilst this set up is tested, probably once James has finished, and if the new setup works better then BLADES quietly subsides into the background and Bath lrp gets a revamp that it's needed for some time.
If it doesn't, the situation becomes the same as the Five Kingdoms - no harm, no foul.
The Saturday/Sunday setup simply doesn't work as a co-existence. We know that from your one attempt to do that.
I'm rambling now and have lost my thread - looks to me like new blood and new
I intend to play both systems. Considering that last year I spent two months doing BUST rehearsals all day Saturday (Which may not be as physical as BLADES, but they were certainly exhausting in their own way.) and LARPing on Sunday it's certainly possible to do two things at once
( ... )
Well, i wasn't worried - until it's now implied that it's going to use University grounds to start from, then the SSI National Trust site... Probably without permission.
Hell, I could have a half hour arguement of whether there's a capital of the Barony at all. There wasn't, until a GM took something they thought they knew and wrote about it. Then we were able to absorb it, and roll with it. A Map, however loosely designed, limits.
I'm largely of the *headdesk* opinion about the whole thing. And, frankly, I won't touch it with a bargepole, unless it gets to the point where BLADES dies and I can't afford to get to LT. Even then, only maybe.
Actually, that's about all I can be bothered to write about it. TBH, BLADES could probably do with a reduction in size. However, I'll be sticking by it, and will happily run games while people continue to turn up, and play games while people continue to run them.
Dave, the people who have set this system up have done it because they don't want to play in BLADES any more. There are plenty of us who do. Hopefully you'll still run your campaign next year. I don't think that Flo and Emma deciding not to play with us any more and taking their ball with them is a good reason not to.
It's a bit sad that the very people they got their knickers in a twist about don't actually turn up much at the mo.
Fortunately, a good read of the rules changes reveals that there's a really good reason not to allow anyone to edit the TL rules. They make a complete arse out of it.
Well, true. I have plenty of complaints about the current rules - I still reckon they're due a huge swathe of simplifications - but if there's one thing that Tony is really really good at, it's game balance.
Yeah - but this is amazing. I imagine it made sense to them at the time, but when written down, the knock on effects are terrible and actually complicate on most terms. oh and the arbietry spiteful things. sad sad sad.
