There's a body here on Melee. Looks like some poor sod shot himself. Commander Stoneface, it looks like this is a job for your Watch.

[This day had started bad and gotten worse. Elsa had awakened in the morning to fine her arms, legs and hair shorter, and when she made the Change, everything was much bigger than usual, and her ears felt...floppier. Much as she wanted to deny it, she'd been hit by whatever had turned people back in time the other week ( ... )

[Handmaiden walks quickly to Melee Island, her usual stern facial expression looking rather troubled to someone who would be able to spot the variations in it. The journal entry that was made was rather... nonchalant, or seemed so. A person could write anything.

And she's suspicious. Consciously so; wondering if this truly is a suicide. If it is, why? If not, why? But such thoughts can go nowhere until she arrives.

When she does, she sees what appears to be a Human child--Elsa, presumably. But more than that, she feels the pit of death with the young man at its center. She crouches next to the body, careful not to touch it. Yes, that's a gunshot wound to the head all right.]

Explain what happened. Did you witness this, or only find the body?

[No reason not to ask questions while she waits for Stoneface to arrive.]

[If Stoneface hadn't already taken the name, it would have been a good one for the woman who reached Elsa and the body first. She approved of that for a copper; not that she could remember being one herself, but she reasoned that it would be a handy thing of the people you interrogated didn't know what you were thinking--or that they only knew what you wanted them to.]

I happened across it after he was already dead. As for what happened, I can only make a guess. But judging from how he fell, I'd hazard it's a pretty good one.

[After reading the journal, Stoneface snaps it shut and moves entirely on automatic, forgetting about his temporary body change once more. He shoves his helmet on and after a moment of thought, also pops on his chain mail underneath his leather shirt--his usual breastplate hangs on his teenage body like his shirt did on Ghost. He ignores the fact that his helmet feels oversized as well; he can't think well without it on, and besides, it gonging against his head would be a treat more appealing than a knife across the forehead.

With that, he runs as fast as he can to the crime scene and gets there a lot faster than usual, slowing as he sees a small girl, the back of a white haired head and yes, a corpse. He sighs, and raises one hand in greeting, hardly panting at all from the long run.]

Hello, Elsa. Sorry to see you at a crime scene so soon after you arrived. Can't be helped.

[He nods at Handmaiden, shortly and juts a thumb into his admittedly weak chest.] This is Stoneface, Handmaiden. The bloody tree changed me again.
