Isn't it odd how a "simple favor" for someone (usually a friend) often seems to turn into much, much more than you agreed to? And it's uncanny how quickly the "but you prooooomised" card gets thrown down when you have a complaint: even a valid, simple to resolve one

Oh, I feel you on that one.

I've had 'quick simple emergency wedding catering' turn into an event for which the going rate exceeds $3000. And 'can I crash at your place?' becomes a long-term stay with a visiting girlfriend and full kitchen use.

I think my "just a couple of quick photo retouches" has only run up to about the $1500 range thus far, so you have my deepest sympathies and comiseration.

The kicker is that there's literally nothing in this for me. No carrot, no real fun. Only "assuagement of guilty feelings," as my wife put it. :)
