As a person who has been cigarette-free (except for one cigarette in October) for four months now, I can honestly say one and only one thing about this experience:
I have NO IDEA how to quit smoking.
It's true. I don't know why it is working. I don't understand why I am not craving it more, giving in. The only thing I can think of is that it's Zak. Seeing HIM quit, just before I did, and worrying about bringing smoke and temptation around him. But then I also think, well, I am not usually such a selfless person, so maybe that is just what I have told myself in order to quit.
I just don't know.
Bottom line: keep trying. And, yes, don't bang yourself up because it's hard and you fail. keep quitting over and over again if that is what you need to do.
thanks. and i will keep trying to quit. i think my therapist is right though that i need to take a break from quitting right now and regroup. but i will try again soon and i will succeed.
thanks for your thoughts though and your kind words. knowing that you quit and eve quit and so many others are trying brings me a lot of hope.
