Don't let him know you've been considering the plan. It gives you more leverage.

For example, say you do decide this is the option you want to take. If you've been nasty about it, you can say "Okay fine I'll do it, but only if you agree that when the phone bill comes in at $42, I only have to cover the additional $2." It will seem like the least your father can do to get you into a situation you've pretended to dislike.

However, if you're found out, it won't work in the future when you really DO need bribing, which can be bad. For example, dad caught on to this trick of mine. Now, no matter how much I don't like the idea of UT I'm not going to be offered any fringe benefits for going because he probably thinks I'm just hate-faking. He's made his offer (which is pretty generous, I'm not bitching about that), but I can't con any more out of him.

Wow. This was a largely unnecessary comment advising you to scam your parents. I should be ashamed.

you should be proud of this feat. Scamming the parents is a time honored tradition. But i think he knows i was considering it. I am going to light my whole house aflame.

Just make sure nobody's in the house when you do. It's hard to scam your parents when they know You Burned Grandma.

Why does everything have to be done "QUIETLY"?
