there's been quite a few questions on
icon_tutorial about now so much minimovie icons, but how to cap them.
so viola, tutorial idea!
well first you're going to have to realize the program i'm giving you cannot play all media types. it won't accept dvds or some video files.
so getting that out of the way, here's the program:
http://paul.glagla.free.fr/imagegrab_en.htm its a FREE program thats amazing. i love it to death.
anyway. lets open it up shall we?
Mk first let's open our video. click on the folder icon thats all the way to the left.
(again if your video won't play or you cann't see it, etc, please consult yahoo.com for your problems)
now. go to the EXACT position that you want the mini movie to start at.
if you need to move a frame, click CTRL+ the direction button you need to go.
okay so found your spot? awesome!
that's the button we need to click next.
now a new window will appear below your video.
it'll ask how many images per frame/mintes/seconds you want to take
NOW,
this TOTALLY depends on how "long" your minimovie is going to be. or the section that's going to be.
you DO NOT want it more than 16 frames because it'll be too big for livejournal and when they get TOO big, they won't be able to look good when you format them for livejournal.
SO..
i usually do around 3-4. again, depending on the length.
the one i'm doing is medium length so i'm going to do 4 and frames.
okay... before you hit the switch, make sure your images will be saving somewhere you will KNOW where they are.
so...
click on that button
and go the the pictures tab.
changing to to jpg or bmp depends on you. i'd keep it BMP because bmp are better quality.
if you have a preference to your file names, change it in the "root"section
number from what # you want to start it at. if you want 1, then fine. it really doesn't matter.
number of digits? thats howmany digits are in there. if you only cap 10 pictures it'll be 010.
i unclicked add timecode. don't need it.
okay now go to the advanced tab.
what you need to worry about is folder where to save pictures
this is where all of your caps are going
now for me, and this is just for me you don't have to do this..
i keep seperate folders for all my mini movies.
so if you dont want to change your folder, you don't have to. BUT it's nice to be organized.
okay!
so now you're ready!
one more thing though...
be ready to hit the switch again when you're "scene" is done or else the program will keep going. if it goes over a few, thats okay you can always delete the captures.
so are you ready?
HIT THE SWITCH!
when you're done, remember to hit the switch. the video will stop and go back to the beginning. to get back to the slider and the play button, just click the alarm clock again.
so viola!
now that you've got your caps, you can start making those mini movie icons!
