[Edward opens the door slowly, looking a little worse for the wear. Things with Ema... well, they could have gone better.]

[McCanns were never taught to think, they were taught to fight. And Scout, being the youngest of the clan, has a lot of training. It's almost like a reflex. He immediately socks Ed on the jaw - not his hardest punch, but enough to get his point across.]

[Edward staggers backwards, putting a hand up to his bruising jaw and putting a hand up to the doorframe to try and steady himself.]

[Edward bristles at being called "stupid," but the last time he did something about that, it ended with a losing battle against Schuldig. So he'll bite back whatever insult he'd dish out for now and try a more diplomatic approach.]

Look. I know you're upset. You have every reason to be, after what I did. B-but we all make mistakes, don't we? Don't we all just want to get out? I---I just did what I thought you would do in my shoes. I had a plan to escape, it failed. Twofold. ...back to square one.

[He chuckles a bit nervously. He really, REALLY doesn't want to get hit again.]

What I would do!? No plan I've ever had involved sellin' out my friends ta get me outta here! I figured a guy like you would understand the shit we're up against here. I mean seriously, what did you think was gonna happen?!

My overall scheme was to try and find something in Lucy's room that could lead to a way home. If that failed, my next plan was to rise up the ranks of Grady's ladder in order to be at a better vantage to get out of here. And since both of those plans failed, I... Well. For once, I'm at a loss.

[Scout paces back and forth in a small path, like he doesn't know what to do with himself.] Yeah, you ain't the only one. I'm at a loss as ta what ta do with yer scrawny ass! I really kinda wanna break ya in two right now, ya know! Ya know, it ain't even me that ya should be explainin' yerself to. Dyin' 'n' stuff don't bother me. I've been stabbed in tha back plenty 'a times, but Ema? [He just shakes his head. He's too angry to make a coherent thought about how screwed up Ema's going to feel after this.]

Don't ya think that Grady wants outta here too? All that shit Kay found out in City Hall? That bastard hates this place as much as we do, but he's complete fuckin' crazy! How can ya even think fer a second that we can work with him?!

[He can't see out the door but he can see through the window and after a minute of listening to the altercation, he's gathered that Edward has betrayed this other guy in their plans to escape.

Seeing Enma Ai outside, Slugger passes through the wall and arrives beside her.]
