Patrick had a co-worker that had a KIA and it was a piece of crap. Always in the shop with something or another and then the clutch went out and it was relatively new. That's all I have for ya.
Remember how I had that roommate who had the same name as me and was awesome as a roommate, then she made out with one of my guy friends and then joined a sorority and then she got pregnant and had the baby while she was in a coma from antibodies acting up and now she lives somewhere I don't know?
... she had a Kia, and it never had problems. Of course her dad owned the Kia dealership and probably paid for her tune-ups. She swore up and down they were good cars.
They are the equivalent of 10 year old Toyotas. They are complete rubbish.
You'd be better off finding a used Carolla, Civic or Camery and paying about the same price but getting a slightly older car (like 2002 year range) that will run alot better in the long run.
But if you're looking at a used Kia.... RUN AWAY NOW.
When you goto dealerships ask about program cars. These are often cars with some miles used to transport people to and fo from a dealership. Also yes stay away from Kia's. My co-worker had one that was little over 15k in miles and the clutch basically gave up on it among other things, the deal refused to repair it under the warranty.
Stay with Toyota. It's worth the extra money. Never buy Ford.
Forgot to mention. When you finally do decide to buy a car. Goto consumer reports.com and they have a specific selection where you can get all sorts of information on a car for about 5-10 bucks. It might seem like a shaft but honestly it breaks down the dealer price, what they want you to pay on the car, the mark up across the country and also how much extra parts cost. Well worth 5-10 bucks if you are focused on one specific vehicle.
