Hi, I just started working in Frederick. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on areas of town you would recommend getting an apartment, where some of the good places to go at night are, and what some of the good restaurants are. Perhaps someone knows of an apartment complex that has a really good landlord or reasonable prices, or ( Read more... )

I believe Bushwaller's is renovating/changing owners.

Tauraso's also has just changed owners last week and I don't know what's gonna happen there, but I don't think it'll change much.

Venuti's has a nice restaraunt, but the bar crowd is cocaine-laden.

I like Nido's italian food (also on Patrick).

for cheap chinese hit up Ricks China Buffet on TJ drive. for really awesome chinese China Garden on 40 aka the golden mile. La Paz is great, but i would also recommend Mexicali Cantina also on 40. For Other cheap foods - Denny's (40 again)and Waffle House(ballenger) are a must. and for cheap grocerys Giant Eagle (once again, on 40)

excellent. i love chinese.

and waffle house, that's one of the best things about being here. we don't have those in west virginia, but my family lives in the south and i always make it a point to go when i'm there. now i can go anytime!

i grew up in tyler and wetzel county, and i lived in a few different towns in the area. it's at the southern end of the northern panhandle. i lived in morgantown through all of undergrad and grad school though, and i pretty much consider that my home. i would have loved to settle there, but unfortunately the job market for engineers with MBAs isn't exactly stellar around those parts.

i'll add you to my friends list, and let's go mountaineers!

i totally forget to mention the orchard. they offer vegitarian and vegan junk, but they have the WORLDS BEST STIR FRYS. and really cool natural sodas, also, they make the best bread and soup ever. and if you're into that kinda stuff, check out the common market (across from wal-mart) they have some awesome stuff (their wraps are the best!) i'll add more if i remember...

welcome to freneck :)

as far as places to live, i live in ballenger creek and it's okay...not as ritzy as wellington trace et al, but there's an elementary, middle and high school within walking distance, grocery stores, banks and all that fun stuff just a block away. also close to the 270 and 70 interchange for day trips into dc and baltimore.

for food and shops, downtown has the best & most eclectic places...see above :) market and patrick streets are the main thoroughfares downtown, pretty much any place you want to go in the city limits is off one of those two.
