I think almost nowhere do I feel more pride of place
Then standing at Penn station on Friday, watching the commuters shrug out of their suit jackets on their way home for the weekend. I get what is probably a superior little smile and think, "you guys are just visiting, but I live here!"
It's not that I actually feel superior, but I do love feeling that New York is home rather than a destination.

29/52 - just tidbits
It's a super short day for me at work today! First, I got in late - about 9:15 - because of physical therapy. Then I have a dentist appointment at 11, so I gotta leave at 10:45 for that, and probably won't be back until 11:40. Confused
I know repairs are easier and more likely to last when done in good weather than bad. And I really have no idea what's up with the city budget. But can you think of a reason to put a "raise plow" sign up in the middle of an intersection on the 18th of June? It's not even a permanent one - at least that would be signage repair. Stupid signs of low blood sugar, number 357
I often get confused when my blood sugar is low; just now, I spent four minutes staring at my alarm clock, trying to figure out what that symbol was next to the numbers. Is there some correlation between awesome clothes and listening to music in public?
Even though I come from Ohio, I don't spend a huge amount of my life striking up conversations with strangers, because that usually doesn't end well for me, especially in NYC. It's the little things, some days
I slept in a bit this morning - although I'm newly busy with the new responsibilities, things still seem really. . . I dunno, easy! - at work, and so I've been showing up more like 9 than 8/8:30. My coworkers still show up about 7/7:30, but they are leaving at 5 now, so I feel like I'm in keeping. I decided to stop at Starbucks for a "fancy coffee ( Read more... ) -

I love using up things, and I just now finished two notebooks I've been writing notes in at work since 2010. I went through and copied the stuff that might be useful and dumped them in the shredder. 2 down, 3 to go before I can buy a new one! ;) -

I am cleaning out closets, lately, and have a collection of purses I don't want anymore. WTF is it with entitled New Yorkers?
The train was running a bit slowly this morning - though, at least it was running! - and a bunch of us were cheek by jowl on the platform, watching one pull in.
