In the movie, "Saving Private Ryan", a band of soldiers, headed by Tom Hanks, ventures into war-ravaged lands in order to save, well, Private Ryan. It wasn't only because of the kidnapping of soldiers but because of the rockets being fired at Isreal. Hezbollah was launching missiles at major urban areas in Isreal, and I'm sorry, but they deserve to defend themselves. What further complicates the issue, is that Hezbollah, though it is technically a Syrian organization has a powerful presence in Lebanan, where they had even elected members of Hezbollah to run their government. Remember, Hezbollah explicitly states that it wants to destroy Isreal. I'm not going to say that I support Isreals methods one hundred percent, but I don't think that attacking Lebanan was wrong. In both cases, Israel has tried to exert pressure on governments by making life miserable for the populace. In both locations, this strategy has done little more than increase hostility towards Israel ( ... )

I'm not trying to criticize Israel's every move, but I figure I should mention the oil spill, since it hasn't gotten much coverage. I don't think it's more important than the war, just a side effect that may end up causing long-term damage.
