I'm sitting around waiting for Scout Leader Course to begin next week. Not used to having time off and I'm being honest when I say I don't know what to do with it. Well I'm one of the Army's fifty latest Maneuver Officers. We just finished the gauntlet. It was an 11 day field operation. Each day consisted of two ten hour missions. It was a beautiful weekend in KY. Clear skies and mid-80's. I spent all of it in a dim classroom listening to some Major ramble on about defensive tactics. So sick of this. Haven't seen my kid in over two months and am working twelve to sixteen hours a day.

It was awesome. This past week has been one of the best in my eight years in the military. I can't believe I got to command a tank at a gunnery. It's that first sip of cold beer at the end of a long day which somehow relaxes my entire body. I must have disassembled and put back together the 249 (same rounds as M16 only shoots more rapid and effectively) and the 50 cal.
