Vaguely aware that a scene had been caused, Annie kept her eyes on Derek as he watched her. The heat she saw there made her entire body warm from the inside out and she took a quiet breath to steady herself further. ( Read more... )
His poker face managed to stay in place though he swallowed hard and swore his heart stop as she passed him. Interesting. Annie taunted him about making his shot yet didn't hand over the cue. That only meant one thing: He'd have to take it from her.
Derek sidled up behind Annie and slid her hands in place with his on the stick then bent her over with him to sink the eight ball smoothly in a corner pocket. "There. Got it in." He knew fully well what he was doing. Game over. Or she could insist on a real game. He was counting on reading her right and getting out of the bar. She seemed in the mood for ...dessert.
"We can go now...right?" he uttered barely above a whisper into her ear.
Annie's breath had caught just a little when he'd bent her over the table to take his shot, but that shock was minimal compared to what she felt when Derek took the game ending shot - on purpose. She inhaled deeply through her mouth, her heart pounding in her chest as she eyed the full table in front of her.
Goosebumps broke out over her arms when he spoke, the combination of his deep voice and hot breath doing more to send her mind into the gutter than anything else previous.
"Right now," she practically sighed in anticipation. She knew exactly where the rest of the evening was going and he was still driving.
Her response made the excitement brewing in his pants flinch while pressed to her ass. Yet Derek kept steady and moved without any rush whatsoever. He pushed the cue out of her hands before slowly rising, hands on her hips to pull Annie back from the table with him. "Let's go," he stated the obvious before stepping away to pick up his jacket and drape it over her shoulders. He took her hand and headed out of the bar.
"You paid for three games!" someone at the bar called after him.
"Keep the change!" Derek called back without ever looking back. He took in consideration that Annie was in heels but also kept an easy stride to avoid appearing as eager as he felt. "Your place?" The question was posed as soon as they were in the quiet of the sidewalk outside the bar. They had a short walk to his bike where they could sort out directions if necessary. He knew D.C. rather well and didn't expect to be surprised.
Derek may have thought that his measured movements kept him from looking too eager, but the way he dismissed the bartender's reminder of three games made a big smile break over Annie's face. She knew right then that he wasn't nearly as composed as he wanted to come across.
Pausing next to his bike to actually put his jacket on correctly, Annie paused only briefly at the question before a look came over her face that wasn't entirely faked.
Half-apologetic, half-distressed she explained, "I'm in the process of moving out of my sister's guest house. I have boxes everywhere and my bed is a mattress on the floor."
