Title: playing with fire Rating: G Pairings(s): None, Chen-Centric Genre: Angst, but feel-goodness in the end. A/N: Un-beta'ed. Who wants to be my beta? :DD
Poor Chen ;A; It breaks me to think that this might be happening for real with them. I really don't understand how parents can not support their children.
Anyway, I loved the slightly dark feeling of this, the fact that Chen resorts to fire, which is a very dangerous thing, to cope with rejection. I like how you compared him to a flame, that some people want to see burn out and others want to see it shine.
Thank you for reading! I'm glad you liked the whole flame/danger/rejection thing.
I don't understand why parents don't support their children either, but I wrote this because I had a similar conversation with my own dad. Not because he doesn't support me, but because he doesn't understand that times are different, and he's just as worried as I am about my future. It hurts, but sometimes when parents say that it just might show how worried they really are. Times are a-changing, and sometimes accepting the change is scary, and scary things make people harsh.
Maybe if you think of it this way, it adds another later of complexity? Maybe?
Augh. Maybe my fiction writing will improve and I'll be able to show that next time ;___; THANKS FOR READING AND COMMENTING ANYWAY! <3
i like the contrasts you used with chen during the day/at night... chen is the quiet one and everything in exo, but that always makes me wonder if he's hiding something, haha. the ending was really sweet too. i love chen :D
on another note, i'm pretty new to lj too and i could try beta'ing for you~ :D i tried looking at your profile to see what you were into but there was nothing there... pm me and we could talk maybe? i'm looking forward to making new friends here ahah
So fitting. There's so much about Chen I feel we haven't seen, this seems like a nice insight into what might be going on in that head of his. Wonderfully written, good job!
Thank you! I wish they showed more of him too because, let's face it, train for 11 months and then debut? There's got to be something behind that. Like, not like in the company level, but in Chen's mind. He was added after EXO was created, for pete's sake. Something that huge must have had some sort of effect on him and his family.
SO. SO. SO. I wasn't sure if you wanted me to read this one, or the other I'm just about to read, so I'll be reading both! ^^
But first, this fic tugged at my heartstrings, Cream. ;_______; HEARTSTRINGS. I'll admit, I still have a lot more to learn about EXO than what I would have like, but this was such a nice perspective with the boys, especially Chen. And the brotherhood was really adorable, it really is. /squishes them all
Also, the imagery in the beginning with the flame and how Chen compared it to what his parents thought. Again, heartstrings bb. ;_______; While we're blessed with supportive parents, unfortunately it doesn't happen to others. I understand it's because they're worried/afraid for his future, but hopefully it would change their minds once they see how successful he is.
Keep up the good work, Cream! You've always had such a good way with words. Looking forward to reading more of your fics!
