Why are people always so surprised when they run across a 'scrabble' word in real life? (For example, somebody recently posted on CGP that he was surprised to run across 'navvies.')

I mean, come on! They're WORDS! Somebody uses them!

Okay, rant over. You may resume your normal lives.

Well, I didn't mean stupid usages of words we know. I meant words that are just unfamiliar, such as NAVVY or .... what was that word? ... oh, yes, UNBOSOM.

Sometimes It's just an "oh yeah" moment, when you see word. While driving to BAT I saw a billboard which said "secondi"
