Once upon a when, Target carried compression shorts (Champion brand, IIRC) that had a pouch in front that was ostensibly for a cup, but worked brilliantly for a packer. I don't know if they still carry them, but I'm sure you can find something similar elsewhere, possibly a sporting goods store of some kind. Alternatively, a jock with a cup pouch would probably be an option.

You need to change the strap frequently, preferably daily or twice daily, and give it a good wash and dry. Otherwise you run risk of a serious infection, especially with the skin becoming broken. Zinc nappy cream might help heal and protect the skin.

I used to wear my packer in a sock safety-pinned to the waist band of my underwear. I found it helped keep everything clean and non-chafey and securely in place.

Have you heard of the ftm cock sock? The products are custom made by a trans owned company called the transitional male. They have sock shaped harnesses that you can velcro or safety pin to the waistband of your underwear thus uliminating the need to use a harness with a waste band. They can also customize them to your particular packer and modify them for stp packers too. In the past I've even created my own using and old sock however these are custome made and I've had some that have lasted 6 years.

I cut off the toe part of an old sock and slit a hole in the front, and put my packer in it. Wear it in briefs under compression shorts. Doesn't chafe and is pretty comfy.

There is most definitely an easier and more comfortable way! Try this guy. A little pricey for packing underwear but a pretty good investment, I've never gone back or used anything else since buying a pair. I usually just wear them over my regular underwear so there's less washing involved day-to-day. They have different underwear styles, but I've only used the type I linked above.
