Leonard laughs a little, feeling at ease with the situation he leans down and kisses Jim. "Ya know...meeting her is gonna be a big step Jim. You sure you're ready for that?" He had to ask, as much as he loves Jim, he has to put Jo first.

"Of course I am, Bones." He leaned up, kissing him gently. "I love you and I-...I want to be apart of your life. A big part. But if-..." He swallowed, fighting the lump in his throat. "If David were here, I'd want you to meet him before we went forward with this, us."

"I know Jim. I know." He pulls Jim into a tight hug. "I am happy you wanna meet Jo, and be a part of my family."

Jim just nodded, pressing his face to Bones' chest. Very few things made Jim fall silent and fight back tears, but his baby boy was one of them. Even though he'd been young, he'd wanted David so bad, and to have him die in his arms after living for only two hours struck Jim to the bones. It was part of why he was so involved in family accomodations aboard starships. The Enterprise was, as a matter of fact, the first starship in federation history to have a daycare and elementary classes.

"It's alright Jim." Leonard tries to sooth him, running his fingers thru the blond hair. "So where should we go with Jo on leave?" He asked trying to change the subject yeah it was late but he didn't want Jim falling asleep in this state.

"We can do this Bones." He whispered, cupping Bones' face and pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "It'll work."

When they landed in San Francisco, instead of heading to the house in Virginia like they'd planned, they headed straight to Georgia. They met Pike there, at the same courthouse where Bones had gotten divorced and he led the two men inside. Jocelyn and Clay were already there, waiting, the judge on his podium.

Bones looks horrified. "They are both lawyers Jim, and she already has custody... I never wanted to put Jo through this type of thing." He says lowly, as they enter the court house.

"Jo's at school. She doesn't even know what's going on." Jim whispered, squeezing Bones' wrist. "You just...you have to trust me, okay? They may be lawyers but Pike is...Pike."

And honestly, Jocelyn and Clay didn't have any type of leg to stand on. Everything they said was completely shot down when Pike referenced that fact that Joanna was being sent to an off planet boarding school that already had a down payment for the next two years and Clay and Jocelyn had shuttle tickets to Risa.

"Leonard McCoy wants his little girl in his life." Pike told the judge. "He always has. And if Mr and Mrs Treadway are going to foist her care off onto someone else, why not the father who loves her most?"

Leonard is pacing in the hall waiting to here what the judge has to say. He telling himself he is not freaking out, but he really kind of is, because if they decide against him, he will be destroyed.

"Well, you would have to leave Georgia." Jim said. "So you would technically be going away..but you'd be coming to live with your Daddy...and me, on my ship. You'll get to see lots of interesting planets and stars and I might even let you fly the ship a bit." He winked at Jo.

The little girl squealed. "Really?! I get to go live in space?!" When Jim nodded, her responding squeal could have broken glass. "I HAVE THE BEST DADDIES EVER!"

Jim shot Bones a shocked grin, his heart twisting in his chest until he forgot to breathe for a few seconds.

Leonard laughs a little. "Calm down sweetie, yes you get to come live with in on a space ship." He hugs her, and she scrambles into his lap, betting ice-cream on Leonard's shirt, he rolls his eyes and tries to wipe it off but just shrugs.

"Daddy, I want to live with you and Jim in space I really do, I want to go into space, but is it up high? I don't like hights." She says taking a lick of her ice-cream.

"No baby, it's not up high, right really." He gives her a white lie, they will deal with that later.

He looks up and smiles at Jim. "You okay? You look like you are about to faint."

"I-..um..yeah." Jim nodded. Jo seemed to have a thought then. "Daddy, I can't have two Daddys! That's confusing...Jim needs another name."

"Jim needs to get Jo a bowl for her ice cream before she gives hm more laundry to do." He laughed, sliding out of the booth and getting a bowl from the clerk, returning with it and a spoon. Jo handed him her cone and he set about scraping the ice cream into a bowl.

"Daddy, what did you call your Daddy? You only had one, right?"

"I called my daddy, dad, or pop, but you can call Jim whatever you come up with as long as it's okay with Jim okay?"

"Okay." She says starting to think and digging in on her ice-cream, humming happily.

"Are you okay Jim?" He smiles at him. He wasn't going to tell him, his mother wanted them to come stay at her house.

Jim just laughed, shaking his head as he watched Jo run across the yard. Looking over Bones, he smiled a little. "You sure she'll like me, Bones? I really want her to like me...I wish I'd had time to get a haircut before this..."

Leonard laughs a little, as he opens the trunk, pulling out the bags. "Jim.. take a look at my hair, and yes she is going to love you, come on lets head up to the house." He smiles and starts the short walk to the house.

" I don't know if we are gonna make it to Virginia Jim. I have stuff to work out with Joce, and have to go pack up Jo's cloths and things. I'm sorry."

"We've got a month, Bones." Jim lay a hand on the older man's lower back. "You take all the time you need. We'll ride horses and barbecue here if we have to." Making sure Leonard's mother wasn't headed this way, Jim lay a kiss on his jawbone. "I was looking forward to showing Joanna where I spent my summers when I was her age, but that's okay. What's more important is that she gets to know me. We can do that just fine here."

"JIM!" Jo called and when he looked up, she was pulling a short, older looking woman behind her. "Gran, this is Jim! He's Daddy's boyfriend and Daddy lives on his ship and I'm gonna go live on his ship too and he said I could fly it and he's my other Daddy but I can't have two Daddies because that's confusing so I have to pick another name for him and he does this thing with straws called the Walrus and it-...Jim, how does it go

"No prob, Bones." Jim saluted, then sat Jo down before picking her up again, holding her sideways, tucked under one arm. She laughed, turning to look at Bones. "Daddy, is this how Superman washes his hands?"

"No way!" Jim said, sitting her down. "Superman is gonna wash his hands right now, you just watch." he said, before beginning to wash his hands, even through Joanna's giggling and trying to push him out of the way. "You're not Superman, Jim!"

"No, but I am hungry. C'mon, Mac and cheese is my favorite." he said, heading across the kitchen to sit down. Jo sat on one side of Leonard while Jim sat on the other and after Eleanor said grace, everyone dug in.

" Non-replicated food...thanks mom." He smiled at the women, and dug into his food, looking up and smiling at Jim every so often.

"So I really get to live with you know Daddy?" Jo asked taking a bite of her food and swinging her legs back and forth in her chair.

"Yeah Darlin' you get to live with me now." Leonard smiled.

"Am I still gonna get to see mama?" She asked hesitantly

"Yeah Darlin' you're still gonna get to see your mama, and you can call her when ever you want."

"Okay..." She looks a little confused that she'll be allowed to talk to her mom when ever she wants.

Jim kept silent. He would have rather told Joanna the whole truth right now, and get the potential freak out over with but he figured that this was Bones' daughter, he knew more about this than Jim did and he would do what was best.

"This is really good, Mrs. McCoy." Jim said around a mouthful of macaroni.

She just laughed. "Thank you, Jim."

The rest of the night was pretty uneventful. Jim finished the story about Delta Vega with Joanna and the two of them fell asleep on the couch watching some cartoon on the holoscreen.

"Leonard..." Eleanor went looking for her son while Jim and Joanna slept on the couch. "I want to speak with you."
