Right, this story has been banging about in my head for far too long now, and therefore I've been forced to start typing. Unfortunately, I think I've gone all pretentious while I wasn't looking.

If anyone cares to read, opinions would be appreciated. Would you want to read more after this beginning?

Er, well - I came up with the idea originally for a Pete & Carl fanfic (The narrator would have been Peter). But the more I thought of it the more I realised that it wasn't about them, it was about these other characters instead.

It all stems from my obsession with unreliable narrators, to be honest. I wanted to write a kind of modern fairy story, where you weren't sure if the whole thing was just made up by the narrator or true. So then I had to figure out why no-one trusts this character (the whole thing with the teacher) and then from there I had to figure out why that happened...and one thing led to another and now I have a whole story inside my head fighting to get out. Annoying, really.

How's the story you were writing coming along? With the two dead people and Dennis the Menace?

I like unreliable narrators too, so good choice!

My writing has kind of got a bit unreliable itself - gave up on the dead people thing, started and stopped some more stuff, and now i think I've settled on something. However, I don't really have the time to write at the moment, on top of everything else, and I can't say that it's desperate to come out if my head and onto the paper or anything. I'm unemployed again in three weeks though so that will give me some time to write uf I want to.
