New Years Fic Summary Thinger

Jan 06, 2010 01:49

I saw this posted in echo_wolf ’s journal and thought it was cute, so I’m doing it, too. I guess it encompasses all the fic I’ve ever written except for “Happening”, which I posted in Dec of 2008. I wish I could count it though, because I kind of love it.

Fandoms written in 2009
USWGT RPF, Glee RPF

Stats
I posted 17 stories in 2009 (including 15 chapters of Tori), wrote 16 more that I never posted, and have 8 unposted WIPs. So… 2009 was pretty busy. Especially considering I’d never written before.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Soooooooo much more. I’m still surprised.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
In January? Umm… Well, Lea/Dianna, because I’d obviously never heard of them before. Other than that… there were some strange ones in the “ Choose your own Adventure” and also in “ A Bump in the Night”.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
Probably “ Falling.” Because I’m a huge sap. And a huge romantic. And I love the snow. Or “ The Trouble with Airports” because I just like it.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
God, yes. First, posting anything. Second, deciding to write a story centering around a “character” that most people completely ignore? Kind of risky. Although it worked out extremely well for me, so I guess I learned that taking some risks is a good thing. I also learned to finish something before you start posting it.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
Finish “ Tori’s Story”. Hands down. I have the ending written and I know what I want to happen, but when I sit down to write it, everything comes out wrong. I thought taking a break from it would help, but I think I just need to throw myself into it and force myself to get something written down. Then I can tackle it from there. Ideally, I'd also love to finish " From Russia with Love" with starbuck_river , because I totally love what we have so far.

My best story of last year:
Mreh. I don’t *know*. I am really quite pleased with the very first chapter of Tori, so I’ll say that.

My most popular story of last year:
I sound like a broken record, but I guess I’d have to say “ Tori’s Story” because the USWGT fandom are continuously so supportive and encouraging of me writing it, which I SUPER appreciate (thanks, guys!).

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
None, really. I really did try to think of a better answer (like one that actually answers the question), but I kind of feel like my good stuff gets recognized and my meh stuff doesn’t. And that’s how it should be.

Most fun story to write:
The “ Choose Your Own Adventure” fic, hands down. Alicia being in love with everyone, Shayla offering to be in threesomes with everyone, booze, straight jackets… yaurnie  and I had a blast writing it. (If you decide to have Alicia seek comfort in a goat, click here.)

Story with the single sexiest moment:
Still.” My only (posted) NC-17 and the only PWP I’ve ever really written. I do rather like it, though.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Hmm… The question confuses me. Possibly the “ Choose Your Own Adventures” (see: Alicia being accused of bestiality). Or else the one I wrote for starbuck_river ’s birthday, “ A Bump In the Night,” because it’s pretty WTF?

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Umm… none, really. Maybe “ Superman” just because I had never really considered writing Nastia straight before. Or “ When the worst is over, you can still sleep like a baby in your car” because of the Liukins.

Hardest story to write:
Tori, hands down.

Biggest Disappointment:
Maybe “ Ice Ice, Baby”. I find the premise hilarious, but I think it’s trying to go off in too many directions. I think I should have either cut it down or expanded on it.

Biggest Surprise:
How many people liked “ Superman.”

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Well… there was “ Don’t Break My Heart,” which was definitely telling but also very intentional. As for unintentional… maybe the “Swimming + Outside Villanova” prompt in my 10 fics for Sam and Ace?  Uh… not in a creepy way.
