Hyukkie's Past (Part 2 of 1st Inkling)
(Part 1)
Ch.1 Summary; Hyukkie is avoiding Donghae, Donghae wants to know why. There’s a mysterious person that made Hyukkie turn into a statue when he saw her on the street. Junsu is worried about his best friend and Donghae looks for Junsu knowing he’ll know what’s up with Hyukkie.

Hyukkie’s Past
(A Continuation of 1st Inkling)
Donghae finally found Junsu in one of the empty music rooms; he was sitting on the floor. Donghae looked at Junsu through the door and saw that something had hurt him, no that someone had given him a bad piece of news. He stared at him, not daring to go in yet, he saw him pound his fist on the floor, and grab his hair as he hurl himself forward trying to think hard of a solution. It was then that Junsu noticed Donghae at the door. As soon as Junsu looked at Donghae he noticed that his exasperation didn’t changed but that his eyes hardened with plea and pity in them.
“Junsu you okay”? Asked Donghae as he entered the room.
“Oh Donghae, what brings you here”? asked Junsu trying to distract Donghae so he wouldn’t ask him anymore questions about himself.
“Oh that,” said Donghae shaking out the back of his hair, “Actually Junsu I wanted to talk to you about Hyukkie”.
“Hyukkie?” he asked with a not so convincing surprised face.
“Yea, he’s been acting really weird lately, and he’s been avoiding me lately too” he said not knowing if he should mention what happened on the street earlier.
“Weird, Hyuk’s always been weird, about the avoiding you thing, I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe he’s in one of his moods.” Said Junsu quickly.
“Yea, maybe, but I don’t think that’s it” he stopped, deciding he needed to know what was with Hyukkie, he knew Junsu would know. “The other day I was out with Hyukkie on our way to grab something to eat when…when”
“When?”
“When he stopped. He just stood there frozen to the sidewalk, he saw something and he just froze.”
“Really” said Junsu as he quickly turned away not wanting Donghae to see his reactions. But Donghae caught on.
“You know don’t you, know why he froze like that?” asked Donghae. “You also know what he doesn’t want to tell me don’t you”? He asked already knowing the answer.
“Yes.” answered Junsu, debating whether he should say anything. Donghae could see that Junsu was hesitant to say something, so he tried convincing the older boy.
“Junsu please, could you tell me what’s wrong?” he asked laying on his puppy-eyed face. When Junsu didn’t waver he continued. “Junsu, I know your Hyukkie’s best friend… I just… is he going to be ok?”
“I don’t know”, said Junsu looking at Donghae. “She really broke him”, he said with a heavy sigh.
“She?”, ‘She…’ thought Donghae, it was all he could think, his mind went blank, everything was blank as he listened to Junsu.
“Yeah, Soonie, Hyukjae’s ex-girlfriend.”
‘Soonie- Hyukkie’s ex-girlfriend’, “That’s who he saw, why he froze like that right?” he asked already knowing the answer was yes.
“Yea”
“Wha-What happened…why did they…” he asked as he sat down not feeling anything but a tight squeeze in his heart.
Junsu sighed and sat down too. “You know I shouldn’t be saying anything, I promised Hyukkie.” He quickly continued before Donghae could protest. “But I know your worried about him and that him shutting you out is wrong so I’ll tell you the whole story.” ‘And I think you need to know what your up against’ thought Junsu.
“Now Hyukkie and I have been best friends since we were in elementary school so I know what type of person, he usually goes for. You know he’s had his fair share of crushes but Soonie was that girl, not like the rest, there was something about her. Anyways we had always been in the same class the three of us and she had never shown Hyukkie any interest, that is until he passed auditions and joined the company. After she found out that he was a SM Ent. trainee she started hanging around him more, and more, it wasn’t too long before she confessed to him that she liked him. And not long after did Hyukkie and Soonie started going out. At first I was really happy for Hyuk, he and I both got ourselves a girlfriend, he and I were both training together and were going to debut under the same company and maybe the same group. But something was off, not quite right, see I would always fight with my girlfriend because I couldn’t see much of her, she always felt sad and alone, so we ended up breaking up. Not like Hyuk and Soonie, she encouraged him, whenever he got some free time she would tell him that he should be spending his time training and not wasting his time with her. Doesn’t that sound strange to you? She rather he be at the company until very late, too late to call her or see her, than to actually spend time together. It didn’t seem right to me, a girlfriend would want to be with her boyfriend, complain that he wasn’t spending enough time with her but not Soonie. She never even showed any signs of distress or loneliness, like Hyukkie and I did from missing our girlfriends. We would see her at school happily laughing and talking with a group of people around her while Hyuk would be slumped over his desk too tired to move. That’s when I knew something was seriously off with her, I was seriously worried for Hyuk, so I confronted her. I asked her what she was doing, how could she happily laugh and smile when her boyfriend was nearly dead of exhaustion on his desk, if she even cared that he only pushed himself that hard because she told him to, but instead of responding she suddenly glared at me, just thinking about it gives me chills, she told me that I should butt out of their relationship and that she didn’t like me talking to her this way and Hyukjae wouldn’t either. I couldn’t believe her, she then ran over to Hyuk and woke him up, hugged him and told him that she loved him. Hyukjae of course believed her and he told her he loved her too. Things were ok for a while, she spent more time with him and actually checked on him every once in a while. But then she started coming to the office too. She started hanging around making sure Hyukjae was practicing hard, bothering people in the office, always trying to see if she could meet the other artists. She got Hyuk into a lot of trouble, but she didn’t care, she even brought some of her friends over, saying that she knew where everything was and knew where all the artist were. It was then that I heard of office people complaining so I went to look for her so she wouldn’t get Hyuk into more trouble, that’s when I overheard a conversation she was having with the friends she had brought over that day.
“Wow, I can’t believe you get to hang around here, have you met anyone interesting” asked her 1st friend.
“Of course,” said Soonie with a smug look on her face. “Actually I met Fly to the Sky*the other day, and I’ve been talking to them a lot.”
“Really?” asked Soonie’s second friend
“Yea, actually I think Brian really likes me, he showed interest in me.”
“Really, oh my gaa-“squealed her first friend.
“But what about Hyukjae, I thought you said you loved him” asked her second friend.
“Oh that, I just told him that so that he’d fall for me even more and so Junsu wouldn’t be able to tell me anything.” She said fixing her hair, and continued, “Actually I don’t know if I really like Hyukjae, he’s nice and is a good dancer but he’s not really that good looking and gets too nervous when he sings, that’s why they made him a rapper. I don’t know if they’ll decide to debut him, that’s why I’ve been coming down here to make sure he does well so that they will. I mean what if they drop him what am I suppose to do then? Besides its not like I plan to stay with him for the rest of my life, just until he’s made it enough so that I can meet the right people and maybe even meet a even bigger star like Eric*and be properly taken cared of like I deserve. “She finished and she and her friends giggled.
“I couldn’t believe her, I couldn’t believe such a person could exist. I had never wanted to hit a woman so bad in my life. I wanted to run in there and yell and scream and beat her for how she was using Hyukjae. But I couldn’t go, I knew that if I went in there she would just tell Hyuk that I yelled at her for no reason and that I was trying to break them up for no reason, and I didn’t know if he would believe me.” Said Junsu as he looked up and took his first pause since he began. He looked over to Donghae who was now crying hard, leaving a visible patch of moisture on the collar of his shirt. Junsu smiled at him and wiped away his own tears.
“What happened-“Donghae said in a whisper as his now tight throat wouldn’t let him speak normally.
“Well, she continued to show up and push him and push him. Hyukjae thought that she really loved him, that she understood how hard it was to become an artist and wanted him to do his best and succeed because she knew it was his dream. He thought he was so lucky that he had such an understanding girlfriend who only wanted him to do his best so that when he did debut he could relax and they could make up for all the time they lost. “said Junsu with a chuckle, to which Donghae moved forward and grabbed Junsu by the shirt.
“Why, why didn’t you say anything, why didn’t you tell him what she was after. Why did you let him think that she loved him, make him fall for her more, make him think he was happy?” he wailed at the older boy, not bothering to suppress his sobs anymore. Junsu smiled at him and gripped the hands around his shirt and pulled them off him. He patted the younger boy in the back of the head and only spoke after he was sure that the younger boy was looking at him.
“Because he wouldn’t have believed me, he would have ended up choosing between the two of us and he would have picked her, and I- I can’t loose him, I needed him, I still need him, so I let things run their course. I knew Hyukkie would eventually see what she was and I knew that he would need me then so I knew the only way that could happen was if I said nothing at all.” He sighed and looked at Donghae with tears in his eyes, “Understand” was all he said with a very pleading voice. Donghae nodded once.
“How did he find out”? He asked not really wanting to know but wanting to know the ending.
“After a couple of months of pushing him to his limit, she slipped up. He caught her throwing herself at an artist. He confronted her and she confessed to everything, that she never loved him, that she wanted to go places in life and that she didn’t think Hyukjae could take her there, that she didn’t think he was good enough to even become famous and that she didn’t want to waste her time on him anymore.” Junsu finished and put his head down. They stayed quite in the room for a while.
‘So that’s why Hyukkie had such a violent reaction when he saw her. That bitch if I ever seen her…That’s why he didn’t want to talk about her, he must be in so much pain’ he thought as new tears streaked his face.
“Donghae,” said Junsu making Donghae come out of his thoughts, “Now that you know all of this what do you plan to do?” Donghae stared at the boy, he wasn’t sure what he was going to do. He was so intent on finding out what he was being left out of that he never thought of what he would do when he finally found out what was bothering Hyukkie.
“I don’t know” he admitted
“What are your insides telling you to do?” Junsu asked, Donghae listened,
“Their telling me to go find Hyukkie and to hug him tightly and not let go. They want to find that bitch and hurt her, they want to never let Hyukkie be that sad ever again, because it would hurt too much to see him like that again.” He finished, listening more to what his insides were saying. He noticed that they were in pain, he was in pain after hearing what had happened to Hyukkie. He was mad and upset but mostly hurt, like he had lost something very important.
“Donghae, can I ask you something?”
“Yeah Junsu, what?”
“Do…Do you like Hyukjae?” he asked him very seriously
“Of course I like him, he’s one of my best friends, that’s why this is bugging me so much” he said with a huff.
“That’s not what I meant,” he said, “I mean I’ve been watching you two… and especially after the way you reacted after you heard… those feelings you're having, it seems like… never mind.” He said as he got up go to the door.
“Ah~ Junsu” he said before the boy could get to the door.
“Yea”
“Was- was she very pretty?” he asked while he looked at his feet.
Junsu chuckled, ‘I knew it’ he thought, “Yea you could say she was pretty, really pretty” said Junsu looking at Donghae’s reaction. “To an extent,” finished Junsu as he left the music room.
Donghae sighed heavily and as he lay back on the hardwood floor. He thought of what he should do now.
