All Alone Together

(1st Trip)

“Hae are you sure were in the right place?” asked Hyukkie looking around the room

“I think so, this is the place Teukie said” said Donghae looking around the place not knowing whether he did write the right address down.

Suddenly there was a loud sound and both boys jumped a little and clung to each other. Then they heard the noise again and they realized it was the phone, and they let go of each other. Both boys scattered out and started searching for the phone.

“Found it!” yelled out Hyukkie from the other side of the room, Donghae quickly went to him. “Hyung, it’s Teukie hyung” said Hyukkie. “Hyung where is everyone? Where are you? Why isn’t anyone here?” he asked impatiently. “WHAT!” yelled out Hyukkie.

“What’d he say, what’d he say” said Donghae jumping up and down while he shook his friends arm trying to get an answer.

“Hold on Hyung,” said to the phone and covering up the receiver end to talk to Donghae. “He says we're at the wrong place,” he said and Donghae gaped at him but Hyukkie ignored him and continued, “This is the cabin we were going to stay in before Teukie found out how small and reclusive it was” he finished with a sigh.

“What where are they?” he asked

“Their in a bigger, less isolated cabin, a couple of hours away from here, Teukie said that he called us Thursday night and told Junsu that he had changed the location, he must of forgotten that stupid big-butted moron.”

“What when are they coming to get us, or do we have to ride the bus another couple of hours alone again,” he asked.

“There not coming for us, the bus that brought them there is the only one that goes to and from the place, and it won’t be back until the three days are up. What Hyung,” said Hyukkie as he started talking on the phone again.

‘What!’ thought Donghae, ‘I’m stuck here, in the middle of nowhere just me and my Hyukkie?’ thought Donghae not knowing whether to panic or to jump for joy.

“Guess what everyone?” asked Teukie to his members who were all sprawled out on the floor for they had just finished another day of dueling practice for their debut that was just around the corner. When no one responded he continued, “Fine then I won’t tell you what the heads told me” he said looking around to everyone who really didn’t care.

“What’d they Hyung?” asked Kang-in trying to help his boyfriend out.

“Since you asked” started Teukie doing another sweep of members. “Well the heads said that their very impressed with how hard we’ve been working, so hard in fact their going to reward us with an outing.”

“A trip” said Ryeowook excitedly

“Yea and I want everyone packed and ready to leave 11am sharp, ok I mean it, 11am, so don’t complain if we drag you out of the house and all you have is the clothes your wearing” said Teukie in his leader-styled voice trying to get his point across.

“A vacation” said Sungmin

“Our first trip” said Siwon as the whole room of tired boys sprung back to life. They all started talking and predicting things for their trip, all expect two boys.

“Hyung,” Hyukkie interjected, “But Donghae and I were staying over at Junsu’s remember, he got us passes to that new movie, we were going to sleep over and watch the first four movies in preparation to go see the new movie premiere, remember we asked you if we could go and you said it was ok” finished Hyukkie who looked very annoyed that his plans might have to be cancelled.

“Oh right” he started scratching his head, “But that was before I knew about this trip Hyukkie, what time is the movie premiere?”

“4:00 pm”

“Well I’m sorry Hyukkie, you and Donghae are just going to have to miss it, you can always catch it in theatres after we get back, right, besides there be plenty of other chances to go to premieres once we’ve debuted,” he said patting the younger boy’s shoulder not seeing the pain his words just caused.

Donghae looked over to his Hyukkie and his heart sank a little at the disappointment and pain on his face. Donghae knew how bad his Hyukkie wanted to watch this movie, he was a huge fan of the series, but more than that Donghae knew that Hyukkie wanted to see Junsu even more. This would be the first time that Hyukkie and Junsu would have gotten together since his best friend debuted. Donghae looked at Hyukkie again and he knew he couldn’t let his monkey be unhappy, even for a second, because it hurt him too much.

“Hyung, what if Hyukkie and I go on our own later after the premiere, to join you guys,” said Donghae. After hearing Hyukkie shot up and smiled nodding in agreement to his friend’s idea.

“Well,” said Teukie, “I guess, but you two come right after the movie is over, no dawdling, were suppose to be taking this trip to bond more as a group, ok” he said and was pulled into a conversation with other members.

“Hae you’re a genius!” exclaimed Hyukkie as he squeezed his friend.

As Donghae looked at the dancer’s elated expression he couldn’t help but to smile back.  It was strange to him that how he could go from feeling so awful to so euphoric all because of Hyukkie. He wished more than anything that Hyukkie could always be this happy and he wished that one day he would have the same reaction to him confessing that he was in love with him.

Soon the night of the sleepover and pending trip came. Donghae and Hyukkie went and spent the night over at Junsu’s new place. All three boys had a great time. Being apart from each other for a while seemed to make Hyukjae and Junsu more nostalgic as they tried to cram in as many of their childhood doings in their sleepover. They laughed, play-fought, and stuffed themselves until the wee hours of the morning, and when they finally went to bed they hugged themselves to sleep. If Donghae didn’t know how much Hyukkie missed Junsu and how happy he was seeing his best friend he would be extremely jealous.

Friday came and went, and before they knew it Hyukkie and Donghae were on their way to the cabin and to their members. Donghae and Hyukkie talked the whole way to the cabin, Hyukkie talked all about what had happened those two days with Junsu, Donghae could tell that his Hyukkie was a little sad, that he was already missing his best friend and was probably wondering when he would see him again. Donghae told himself that he would make sure that his Hyukkie had the best time ever, that he wouldn’t even have time to be sad because of how much fun they would be having and he hoped that his members would help him.

“Ok I understand Hyung, yes, we’ll look after ourselves, don’t worry about us” said Hyukkie as he hung up the phone. There was silence in the cabin. Both boys just stood there looking around the cabin. Now that they looked around this cabin was really much too small for all 12 boys to have stayed in. There was only one bedroom, one bathroom, the only good thing about the cabin was that the living room and kitchen were spacious and decked out. The silence started pressing down on Donghae like weights, he was happy when Hyukkie spoke up.

“So, what should we do?” he asked.

“About what?” asked Donghae

“I mean we can’t go with the other members so there’s no point in us staying here. We could leave in the morning and go back home,” said Hyukkie giving Donghae a sideways glance. “Or we can stay put, either way it’ll just be the two of us all alone in one place or the other” he finished looking at the floor shyly. If Donghae didn’t know any better he would have sworn that Hyukkie was acting strange, very coy.

“Umm…I don’t know, what do you think?” asked Donghae trying to get a better read on what the other boy was thinking.

“Well,” started Hyukkie straightening the back of his hair, “We did come all this way and if we stay here we could do whatever we want, no one will come in and interrupt us or even complain if we make to much noise” said Hyukkie and Donghae gulped.

“Hyukkie…” said Donghae

“We can practice our moves and turn up the music as loud as we want and not have to worry about the other members coming in to bother us or to tell us to turn down the music,” he said in a rush, hoping that his friend would consent.

‘Oh,’ Donghae sighed in relief in his head, ‘I thought Hyukkie was…I thought he wanted to…’ Donghae quickly shook his head to get the idea out of his mind.

“Oh, you don’t wanna stay here just the two of us, ok” said Hyukkie looking disappointed. Donghae quickly caught on, “No, that’s not what I meant when I shook my head earlier,” he started and he remembered the promise he made to himself early about making sure Hyukkie had a great time on this trip, so if Hyukkie wanted to crank up the music and dance then that ‘s what they will be doing, even though that’s not what he had in mind for a trip to get away from all their practicing.

“I want to stay, let’s stay and do all the things we can’t do when the members are around,” he said smiling to Hyukkie who quickly flashed him one of his beautiful gummy smiles.

So Donghae and Hyukkie started to do all the things they couldn’t do when the other members were around. They first had a dance party, where they danced erratically with the music full blast all around the cabin. They yelled out to the members who weren’t there.

“Ya Heechul-ah go get me a drink, and stop wearing such fruity things” yelled out Hyukkie.

“Ya Yesung-ah buy some snacks now! And stop eyeing Siwon so much, it’s creepy!” yelled Donghae.

They laughed at their taunts, exhausted they collapsed on the couch. After sitting in silence for a while they both decided that they were hungry, and luckily for them Junsu had convinced them to buy enough food to last the entire weekend. It seemed strange to Donghae at the time that Junsu suddenly dragged them to the market but he was glad that he did now and he was especially glad that Junsu had forgotten to mention the change of locations. Donghae thought that something was up with Junsu but brushed it off, he was there alone with his Hyukkie and they were having a good time and thanks to Junsu they wouldn’t have to leave early because they didn’t buy enough supplies, he mentally thanked Junsu.

“What should we eat Hae?” asked Hyukkie

“I don’t know what do you want to eat, anything you want is fine with me”

“Does that mean your going to cook then?” said Hyukkie and Donghae saw his eager face and chuckled,

“Yeah sure” answered Donghae smiling.

“Really, you don’t have to we can just eat the snacks we bought, its late and its been a long day” said Hyukkie not wanting to be a bother, sensing what the other boy was thinking Donghae answered, “I don’t mind really, I want to cook for you”.

And Donghae honestly really didn’t mind at all, he was actually looking forward to it. Donghae had always wanted to cook for his Hyukkie, he imagined it often, cooking for his little monkey, watching the expression on his face when he first took a bite. How Hyukkie would smile his gummy smile at him. He imagined Hyukkie complementing him, “Hae this is the best food I’ve ever eaten”, he would say his eyes round and shiny with sincerity as he stuffed himself. Donghae imagined he would walk over to his Hyukkie and gently run his fingers through the back of his hair and say, “Really, that’s because I made it with love”. To which Hyukkie would respond by pulling Donghae closer by wrapping a arm around his waist and laying his head against the younger boy’s stomach and saying, “Mmm…Hae’s love is the best”.  Donghae giggled at the thought and then was brought back to reality when he saw Hyukkie arch an eyebrow at him.

“I’ll just get started then,” said Hae as he quickly ran to the kitchen to see what he could make.

Now Donghae was a pretty decent cook most of the time. As a little boy he used to love helping his mother prepare the food, he always loved seeing how his mother smiled brightly as she prepared their meals, being extra careful and cautious with her husband’s food especially. His mother would always tell him that the secret to cooking was the sincerity and love you put into it, “It doesn’t matter that we don’t have the best and most fancy equipment or ingredients, because your daddy’s going to love this because we made it with love and sincerity,” his mother told him.

Donghae thought about that as he started preparing everything. Truthfully Donghae was a little nervous, he hadn’t really cooked anything since he moved in with his members a few months ago. Donghae was also worried because he knew he had these instances were his food just turned out horrible and he couldn’t possibly allow that, not when this was the first time Hyukkie was tasting his cooking. Donghae knew the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach, in fact he also knew that being a good cook sometimes was the factor in people getting together or the factor in their brake up.

So with all his might he concentrated hard on why and who he was cooking for. He pictured his Hyukkie and all the reasons why he loved him and he put them into every little action he did. Donghae was so engrossed in his cooking he didn’t notice what Hyukkie himself was doing. He was right in the middle of cutting some veggies when he noticed Hyukkie and blushed deeply. Hyukkie was sitting down with his arms crossed underneath his chin so that his head was perched up enough to see what Donghae was doing, he was staring up at him with his big round eyes very intently, Donghae felt as if he would get sucked up into the dancers dark orbs, and blushed all over again.

“Hyukkie what are you doing?” he asked in embarrassment

“Watching you,” he said simply not taking his eyes off the boy

“Why don’t you go into the living room and do something” he said trying to get his friend to stop staring at him.

“I wanna keep watching you” said Hyukkie as perched up on one arm

“Why” asked Donghae curiously

“Because when you cook you get this expression on your face, I’ve never seen it before.”

“Oh,” was all Donghae could say, he didn’t know if Hyukkie’s last statement was good or bad.

“It’s like your trying to figure a really big math problem out in your head…but there’s more to  it, that I can’t put my finger on, it’s…it’s…it’s very…” he said with an expression that Donghae thought might have looked like his own, though he thought it was cute on his Hyukkie he doubted he could pull it off as well.

“Ugly” said Donghae unable to stop himself

“No, adorable” said Hyukkie with an earnest expression, “Very cute” he said causing Donghae to redden. “That’s cute too” said Hyukkie as he reached out to brush the tips of his fingers on Donghae’s flushed cheek. Donghae not knowing what to do just stood there mouth gaping trying to say something but not being able to, his eyes blinking rapidly as Hyukkie’s hand got closer to his face.

Hyukkie laughed, “Hae you look like a fish.”

“What?”

“Fishy” said Hyukkie as he placed both of his palms on Donghae’s face and pressed them together.

“Did you just call me a fish?!” he said making his fish expression again. ‘A fish, fish, is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Fishes are something you win at a carnival and you flush after a week without giving it a second thought. Fishes aren’t lovable, their something you eat…’ thought Donghae, he shook his head to get rid of all the dirty thoughts that were starting to leak into his head.

“Stop teasing me Hyukkie” he said after he looked at his monkey looking at him with a bemused expression. “If you keep distracting me we won’t eat until morning”

“Fine” said Hyukkie dropping his head on the counter and went back to staring at him.

At first Donghae tried to ignore him and go back to his cooking, he was starting to feel self-conscious at the boy he loved staring at him all the time.

“Hyukkie” he finally said.

“Hmmm”

“Get out” said Donghae

“Why” said Hyukkie outraged by this statement, he hadn’t been doing anything.

“You’re distracting me”

“I’m not doing anything”

“I know but you staring at me is distracting me” said Donghae in a huff, he just wanted to cook in peace so that the dish would turn out well for Hyukkie.

“Your really kicking me out?” asked Hyukkie chuckling.

“Yes, go set up the table or rest a while in the living room, I’ll call you when it’s ready,” he said

Hyukkie did as he was told and left the kitchen sulking. Donghae could hear Hyukkie in the next room loudly turning the pages of his magazine, he laughed thinking of what an impatient sulking baby his Hyukkie was being. Donghae was just about done with making dinner when Hyukkie called out to him.

“Hae”

“Yes Hyukkie” he said loud enough to be heard in the next room.

“Doesn’t it feel like were a married couple”

“What!?!” yelled out Donghae shocked at his friends comment.

“I mean, like you in the kitchen diligently making dinner, kicking the husband out of the kitchen because he’s distracting her. So the husband is banished to the living room to wait until dinners ready, even though he’d rather be with in the kitchen watching his mate prepare his meal lovingly,” he said in a stern but playful tone.

Donghae laughed and got red in the face at his remark, “You’re the husband then and I’m…” he couldn’t finish the sentence, he was too shy and the idea was too wonderful.

“My wife” said Hyukkie as he turned his head to catch a glimpse of Donghae and smiled. Hyukkie giggled at his ‘wifey’s’ expression, he liked seeing his fishy getting red, he thought it looked very pretty on him and he liked teasing him so.

“How much longer my fishy wife” called out Hyukkie as he started flipping through his magazine again, Hyukkie didn’t have to turn around to know that the other boy was now blushing again.

“Oh umm…15 more minutes…” Donghae said his voice a little shaky as he finished his sentence, “My monkey hubby”

Hyukkie stopped mid-flip. Donghae got tense, ‘Maybe it’s only okay if he teases about us being married, maybe it’s weird that I said it, maybe he knows that I really wish he was my monkey hubby’ he thought and sighed in relief once he heard what Hyukkie said next.

“Did you just call me a monkey” said Hyukkie.

“You call me fishy” rebutted Donghae

“Yea but fishes are cute” said Hyukkie, Donghae blushed again. “Monkey’s are crazy, ugly, tree-climbers that throw their crap at you” finished with a pout. Donghae giggled, he didn’t want to say it but he always thought that his Hyukkie looked more like a monkey when he pouted.

“No, monkeys are cute, smart, agile, limber beings that dance when they hear music, their endearing,” said Donghae causing Hyukkie to smile and get a few shades redder.

“Fine” he grumbled and went back to his magazine.

15 minutes later, Donghae stood back, proud of his work, everything looked great. He had made white rice, beef-veggie stew and baked potatoes. ‘Now to taste my creations’ thought Donghae as he took a spoonful of rice into his mouth. He swallowed and frowned at himself, the rice was okay but it was a little on the under cooked side. He tried not to let it get to him as he moved on to the baked potatoes, he sighed in irritation when he tasted he had over cooked them and had burnt the bottom of the potato. He started to become panicky, but he calmed himself down, told himself that everything would be fine that the rice and potatoes weren’t that bad, they were still tasty. Finally he moved on to the main course, the item that took the longest and the item that he concentrated with all his mind and heart on to make, the beef stew. He took some into his mouth and threw his head back. The stew was extremely hot, but that was not the reason why he shot up in pain, the hotness was only second to the saltiness of the soup.

Once he dank two glasses of water he mentally kicked himself. ‘How can I have been so careless and over salt the stew, it’s ruined, everything’s ruined’ he thought as he felt tears of frustration penetrating his eyes.  He slumped down against the kitchen cabins and cried softly, he didn’t know why it affected him so much, but making this dinner had meant a lot to him. ‘What a fantastic wife I’d make’ he thought as he sobbed into his knee.

More minutes passed and Hyukkie was getting hungry. ‘I thought Hae said it was only going to be 15 minutes’ he thought as he got up and headed toward the kitchen. Hyukkie right away thought something was up, there was no sound coming from the kitchen as he got closer he saw why. There was Donghae on the floor, asleep. Hyukkie couldn’t help but smile at his fishy’s sleeping face, he noticed then that his cheeks had visible streaks, staining his beautiful face.

“Hae, fishy” heard Donghae as he was shaken lightly, he groggily opened his eyes and saw his Hyukkie only a few inches away from his face. Donghae immediately tried to move back but was stopped by the counter he was leaning on.

“Did my fishy wife have a nice nap” said Hyukkie with a smile on his face. “Common,” he said as he took Donghae’s hand and helped him to his feet.

“Where are we going?” asked Donghae as Hyukkie led him out of the kitchen into the living room, then he saw that the dinner table was all set up and his food was placed on the table.

“I took the liberty of setting the table up and bringing the dishes out,” said Hyukkie.  Donghae looked at him and tried to think of what to say, he couldn’t let him eat all of that horrible food, but he was too embarrassed to say anything. “You should have told me you were that tired, we could’ve just eaten the snacks we bought, you didn’t have to push yourself so hard” he said as he made the younger boy sit down. This made Donghae feel worse, Hyukkie thought that he was so exhausted that he fell asleep when in reality he accidently fell asleep because he was crying, he usually always became really sleepy after he cried.

“Hyukkie I think maybe we should just eat the snacks we bought” said Donghae urgently as he saw Hyukkie serving himself.

“No way, not after all the work you put into making this” he said smiling at Donghae. Then Donghae’s eyes widened as he saw Hyukkie spooning some stew up.“What” said Hyukkie suspiciously as he blew on the stew and right when spoon touched his lips Donghae yelled out, “Hyukkie don’t!! You’ll die of kidney failure if you eat that!”  But Hyukkie just chuckled at him and he placed the spoon into his mouth and took it out again.

Donghae watched closely waiting for Hyukkie to shoot up in pain, he waited for him to yell at him and tell him off. But Hyukkie didn’t do anything of the sort. For a long while he just sat there with a blank expression, he made sure Donghae was looking at him and before he swallowed. Donghae gawked at him still waiting for him to start yelling so it was a big surprise when he saw the corners of Hyukkie’s lips curve up.

‘Is he smiling? He’s smiling, I can’t believe his smiling’ thought Donghae.

“Hae this is the best stew I’ve ever tasted” said Hyukkie as he scooped up another spoonful into his mouth and another.  Donghae just stared at him in utter complete shock. ‘I’m dreaming right, this has got to be a dream, that stew was horrible, how can he be eating it so happily’ thought Donghae.

“You can stop Hyukkie, I know it’s awful, you don’t have to force yourself,” said Donghae as he got up to take Hyukkie’s plate away from him.

“Hae what are you doing” said Hyukkie as he slapped the others hands away.

“You can stop it now,” said Donghae getting a little angry at Hyukkie.

“What are you talking about?” asked Hyukkie

“Oh give it a rest, its horrible” he said feeling tears swell up in his eyes.

“No it’s not” said Hyukkie, “Here try it” and he extended a spoonful to the younger boy. Donghae eyed him suspiciously but eventually gave in. And took the spoon to his mouth and swallowed. He waited for the pain that had come to him when he took some stew earlier, but it never came. He grabbed the spoon out of Hyukkie’s hand and tasted the stew again. He was surprised to find that it was good, delicious, nothing like what he had tasted earlier. He smiled wide eyed at Hyukkie who smiled back at him with the same enthusiasm.

“It’s good” said Hae

“I know, can I have my spoon back now?” asked Hyukkie and Donghae gave him back his spoon.

‘How did this happen, I know it was awful just a little while ago’ he thought as he went back to his seat and tried the other two things that were out on the table. Surprisingly the other two dishes were good too, the rice was now perfect and potatoes weren’t as burnt as he remembered.

“What’s wrong Hae, eat up, everything you made is great” said Hyukkie smiling at him.

“Thanks but, but”

“But what?” asked Hyukkie

“I don’t remembering it being this good” said Donghae trying hard to remember that he had definitely tasted the dishes before and they didn’t taste as good as now.

“You’re probably hungrier than before so that’s why it taste better to you now” said Hyukkie still stuffing himself.

“Yea, yea that’s probably it” said Donghae as he stopped wondering and starting enjoying his meal with his Hyukkie.

After they both stuffed themselves, Hyukkie eating up all food to Donghae’s delight, they both cleaned up and headed for bed. Since there was only one bedroom and one bed, Donghae and Hyukkie decided to share the bed.

Hyukjae laughed as he left the bathroom and saw his fishy wife already fast asleep on the bed. Hyukkie carefully climbed in, he lay on the bed not realizing how exhausted he really was. He looked over at Donghae who slithered closer to Hyukjae, a smile on his face. ‘I’m glad your so happy, I’m exhausted, fixing all your dishes was a lot more troublesome than I thought it would be’ he thought as he saw his cell phone light up in the corner of his eye. He looked at his phone and saw he had a new message from Junsu. He opened his phone carefully shielding the light away from Donghae.

Ya Monkey!

How’d everything go,

did it work, did he find out.

Knowing you, you probably

made him cry again right?

-      Your Master

Hyukjae gritted his teeth and replied.

Hey big butt slave,

Everything worked out fine.

Your idea about putting in

potatoes to absorb the salt

in the stew was genius. He never

even noticed, he also didn’t notice

that I fixed his other dishes too,

he never even wondered why it was

so late at night, I guess he just

assumed he slept the whole hour

and a half it took me to fix it. You

should have seen his face, he was

so shocked and happy when he tried

them. Thanks again, but you still owe

me for forgetting to pass Teukie’s message.

- The Person You Wish You Could Be

He quickly closed his phone and put it back on the night stand when he felt the younger boy stir a little. He smiled down at him, Hyukjae lay there in bed for a while and just thought. He wondered why he had gone through all the trouble to fix Donghae’s dishes, if it were any other member he would have been upset and teased them about it. ‘Because he’s your friend, and you saw how sad he was, he was crying. And because you know how he can be a perfectionist sometimes, and you don’t want him to be upset, and he did work really hard on all the dishes. Yea that’s it’ he thought as Donghae wrapped his leg around Hyukkie’s waist. Hyukkie suddenly became perfectly still and aware of Donghae’s limbs, but when nothing else happened he sighed and adjusted better into Donghae’s embrace. He soon fell asleep, happily.

The next day turned out to be even better than the day before. Donghae woke up happily to see his angelic monkey snuggled close to him, there was nothing better than waking up in the arms of the person you love most in this world, thought Donghae. He got up without trying to wake his Hyukkie and got breakfast ready. Surprisingly breakfast turned out great, the good reviews of dinner boosted Donghae’s confidence so he was able to make a tasty meal, to Hyukjae’s relief.

With a free day all to themselves Donghae and Hyukkie decided to go on a hike and have their lunch up on the trail. So Donghae made the lunch and they were off. Donghae giggled thinking that they really did seem like a married couple. Hyukkie insisted on carrying the basket with all food and Donghae helped his Hyukkie up the tricky parts of the trail, Donghae was in heaven. Donghae never had Hyukkie all to himself before, because there are so many members always around he never got the chance, but here it was just him and his Hyukkie, his monkey hubby. ‘I could get used to this’ thought Donghae as he and Hyukkie sat down for their picnic lunch.

After there hike and picnic they came back to the cabin and Hyukkie said he was going to go out and collect some fire wood so that they could have a bbq for diner. Donghae sat there preparing the meat and veggies, trying to think of ways to make it so he and Hyukkie never had to leave when it occurred to him.

If he were to confess his feeling for his Hyukkie then Hyukkie would be his all the time, it didn’t matter if they weren’t physically alone because they’d be together in their minds and in their hearts. And that’s when Donghae made up his mind, later that night he would confess to Hyukkie, and tell him how he’s enjoyed the time alone together and that he loved him and that he hopped that they could more than just friends.

He knew this was very risky, especially since their debut was so close and they’d start being under the scrutiny of hectic schedules and the scrutiny of  being under a microscope where everything they did would be magnified by a hundred, but Donghae didn’t care. He felt he needed to do this, like maybe it was fate that they were stuck alone together, that maybe this was the perfect opportunity to tell him exactly how he felt. At least here neither of them could run away, they would have to deal with the issue, and it did needed to be dealt with. Donghae knew that they still had tomorrow too, until the other members came for them and he thought that would be a good thing because that way whether Hyukkie rejected him or not they would have to face each other in the cabin and they would be able to move on, whether it was moving on to becoming just friends and band mates or Donghae hoped, they would move on to getting used to becoming lovers.

So Donghae waited in the cabin, waiting for his Hyukkie to come back, he went over and over what he would say, how he would say it, each time different from the last. He cancelled the whole thing five different times telling himself that he was crazy to risk their friendship, but he talked himself out of it. Then Donghae noticed how late it was and that his Hyukkie was still not back yet. The sky started to get darker and darker and Donghae started to worry. ‘What if something happened to him?’ he thought to himself. He started pacing up and down the cabin, it was now pitch black and there was still no sign of Hyukkie. Donghae went into panic mode, thinking of what he could do, what he should do. ‘Hyukkie told me to stay put, to wait for him, so I’m going to wait, he’ll be back soon’ thought Donghae as he sank to the floor.

The silence was starting to become unbearable for Donghae, suddenly Hyukkie’s missing presence was stood out too much for Donghae’s comfort.

“Hyukkie…Why aren’t you back” he said Donghae grabbing his knees, “I want you here with me” he said as he started to sob waiting for any sign of Hyukkie but there was none, “Hyukkie…please”, was the last thing he said before everything went dark.

To be continued…
