To riot or not to riot...

My daughter just came home crying from playing with friends. They were teasing her about us, her moms. She was so sad and I felt so angry. Why do I have to raise her in an enviroment like this? Why does this have to matter to other people? Right now I feel so ashamed, ashamed that she has to go through this because of me, of choices I make. It ( Read more... )

Oh, I'm so sorry!

I just don't get it. It's fine to have two parents of the opposite sex, one parent, parents who are really grandparents, foster parents, one parent and their live-in-of-the-month, but two parents of the same sex is somehow wrong? ARGH!!

Must. Resist. Impulse. To. Beat. Children's. Parents.

I'm with zorah. The Kiddo is young enough, maybe the kids won't even notice the difference if they get normalized.

It's the parents who are the real challenge.

Block party! Convert the parents and the kids will follow. If you're really lucky the kids might even lead. Do you know the 'rents of said ignorant mouthed childern? Are they approachable - for maybe a bbq or something? I'm all hoping for the best and that the 'rents don't know that thier kids are being cruel, or that they don't know quite how to approach it. Learning moment and all.

and check out Camp Ten Tress for a summer camp that would be awesome for Lil' Bit. Lots of other kids with all sorts of queer parents - plus it's sliding scale, plus they have scholarships. Oh wait she might not be old enough yet.... hmmmmm crap. Convert people for the Camp Fire Family Club at the Center so's the kiddos will have other kiddos with moms and/or dads to get to know. Yeah that's the ticket.

I :( un-cool, closed-minded people who raise their kids to hate. I think you are an amazing person (and you and Cass are super moms) and that, even though it may be hard, maybe eventually other people will realize love doesn't have to be so fucking controlled. Maybe you will be the ones to show them that.
