You know what would make them even more awesome, would be if you could load your photos directly into the iPod and let them display, rather than having to go through the steps of loading them into iPhoto. Yuck. Part of the reason I want a laptop or iPod is to have a place to stash photos when I am taking a lot of them. It would be nice to have a live display. I still really really want an iPod so I could play music all the time, but I NEED a place to put digital photographs. And an iPod would be perfect, small and easy to carry.
Maybe I am wrong about this, but from lightly skimming the specs, I am disappointed.
Well, it is possible to do that with the current hardware, it's just that the software hasn't been written yet. Give'em time and I'm sure that'll become a reality. After all, there's over 100 iPod specific applications out there, and more being added everyday. If there's a way to show iPhoto pictures on the iPod screen, then there will be a way to view just copied pictures as well. Here's a great article about digital photography and the iPod. http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/12/02/photo_ipod.html
True dat. Heck, the new Photo iPod was just announced today!
I still think Apple should have already had the software written and in place along with the announcment of this new version of iPod, though, because that is the perfect use for it. I am totally jonesing for a 60 gig version and that 15 hour charge on the battery is pretty sweet.
I know a lot of people who have various brands of MP3 players and from what I have heard, the iPod, with the same exact MP3 and the same exact earphones coming from different models, just sounds better. Sean Boyce has one and he drops it all the time and it hasn't hurt it, whereas I know another person who dropped their Nomad and it busted.
