Holiday cards
Sending out holiday cards has been one of the fun parts of the season for me for a very long time. Listening to the podcast miniseries Dr. Death and the second episode (describing the central character's schooling and early career) gave me the can't-unsee-it mental image of Martin from Cabin Pressure taking his utter determination to learn despite a complete lack of talent and becoming a brain surgeon instead of an airline pilot ( Read more... ) -

Familial buck-passing
Caught on the way out of Dad's this morning by my uncle for a few rounds of buck-passing on the topic of Something Should Be Done about Dad. Well-spent Wednesday
I got permission for overtime Saturday morning and stretched it to make up for missing out last Friday. So according to the online pay stub, the check I'll be getting this Friday is going to be a pleasing amount to cover not too many bills. Not thrilled
Second Sunday in a row of running out of work an hour or two early, leading to my second week in a row of spending my first couple of shifts staying late trying to claw back the lost hours before I could start adding any overtime to my paycheck. Spring warming rapidly into summer
So a weekend ago the little sugar skull tin in my purse that I use to hold a week's supply of caffeine tablets (I take a tablet and drink a bottle of water on each break at work, and my weight and blood sugar are both creeping down in response to the switch from Dr Pepper as caffeine source) disappeared. What I did with my night off
I had a really productive Monday -- left the vacuuming and all of the kitchen stuff for the next morning, but I did garden stuff and cleaned the catboxes and rabbit cage and avoided the urge to spend the day reading.
