The Big Bang Summer Project!

The ga_fanfic big bang summer project is well under way. We had 14 authors representing all walks of fandom sign up for this awesome event. It's going to be amazing to say the least.

Now that we have our authors, we need the special ingredient that really sets big bang projects apart from just writing a really long fic: the artists.

Ideally, we would like for each story to have fan art, a fanmix and a fan vid to go with it. Be aware that some of these stories are AU so if you like to dabble in the unusual, this is most definitely the challenge for you. Artists will work closely with their author and have an opportunity use their creativity to make the art match the story being told.

Fan Art

• Fan art should be of medium to large side. Icons are not accepted.
• Fan art should identify with the story as closely as possible. This means that you should be at least slightly talented in photoshop or other graphic software and be able to work with layers, etc. Microsoft Paint and a screencapture will not work for this project.
• Fan art will not be shared with others outside of the project until the story is ready to be posted as to conceal the plot of the story until it is released. The timing will be coordinated at another date.

Fan Videos

• Fan videos should be comprised of at least one full length (~3:00 minutes) song.
• Fan videos should identify with the story as closely as possible.
• Fan videos will should not be uploaded to YouTube or any other server until the story is ready to be posted as to conceal the plot of the story until it is released. The timing will be coordinated at a later date.

Fan Mixes Music only, no cover art required

• Fan mixes should be compromised of at least six full length (~3:00 minutes) songs.
• Fan mixes should identify with the story as closely as possible, as interpreted by the fan mixer. Use of creativity and lyrics is a must.
• Fan mixes will not be uploaded or shared until the story is ready to be posted as to conceal the plot of the story until it is released. The timing will be coordinated at a later date.
• Fan mixes may be titled differently from the story, however the subtitle should indicate that it is a fan mix for 'abc' story.

What if I want to sign up for more than one thing?

• That's totally fine! Sign up for all three categories, sign up to do more than one piece of fan art. But please be aware that you must participate. Failure to follow through with your commitment interferes with the outcome of the project.

I only want to sign up for one thing, but I could probably pinch hit if needed.

• Our goal is not to need a pinch hitter but it's always nice to have that just in case established. If you're interested in pinch hitting, just mention in it your sign ups.

How can I just create my art/video/fanmix based off of a summary?

• Artists who participate in the big bang project have a special treat that no other has- a special preview of the rough draft of the story. The artist will be able to read the rough drafts after July 1st and get a full preview as to better capture the story in their art.

How long will I have to finish my project?

• All art will be due by August 1, 2011 in order to be able to post stories beginning August 15.

I suck at anything but I know some awesome fan vidders. Can I promote this? (Come on. I know you were thinking it...)

• Simply copy and paste the text area below into a comment section and fill it out. On April 15th, you will recieve an invite to the author's only community in order to select your story and begin collaboration on art.

We will accept 14 participants + 2 pinch hitters for each category. Once that number is met, sign ups will not be accepted for that category.
