My midwife told me that creating life requires pain, that the extremeness of that helps give life. It didn't help much at the time, but it comforts me now. Odd, huh?
Get sleep because you owe it to your partner. She needs you to be fully there and rested when more important stuff happens and she needs to not be worrying about you.
Dad spent more time worrying about me than Mom did, =).
Sleep was hard to get on the first night here with the kid as well. We'll work on it, learning to get sleep when we can, and to work as a team so that all can get a few winks in.
Thank you for your support. It's always appreciated.
I am tired, but don't want to sleep more than "Mom."
This isn't a good idea. "Mom" needs you, and it would be a kindness to her to look after yourself so that you can be there for her and so that she doesn't need to worry about you in addition to all the other stuff she does need to worry about. Look after yourself! *hugs* Childbirth is a stressful time for all involved.
I do have some traits that are more self-destructive than "noble" - I'm working on it.
At the end of the day, I did take some time for myself to detox...and I was also impressed with myself that I did take time-outs, and found efficient ways to rest (i.e. one hour of guitar playing versus 1.5 hours of sleep - the former is much more restful to me).
No one ever said that giving birth was easy, that's for sure... and I'm pretty certain that no one ever said witnessing or helping with a birth was easy either.
Everyone needs support... regardless of whether it's "your time" or not. We are all human.
Take care of yourself... you're in my thoughts and my heart.

I passed this on to the biological parents (we haven't found a word yet for me...we're working on it) and they also appreciated the thought.
I'm so happy the wedding went well...congrats again...
